I make free telephone calls using dialpad.com and find the system to usually work very well. There is one problem, however.
The dialpad window that opens up, when a call is in place, bounces to the top. This is quite a pain if I am talking to someone and trying to do stuff on-line at the same time, which is fairly frequent for me.
I would like to disable this. I realize that it’s free because it wants me to use those banner ads, but if I can get around it, I promise to click them from time to time to make up for it
I can’t just disconnect java because the whole program runs on java.
So, how can I minimize that damn window and make sure it STAYS minimized?

Satan I don’t know the answer to your question but let me ask you one. Does this service cost anything? If not you mean a person can talk LD anywhere for free???

I’ve tried like hell to get the damn window to stop from popping up to no avail. The closest I’ve come is a program called AtGuard, which will stop banner ads from loading in your browser. The window will still maximize itself, but the ad in it will be gone. Still a pain in the ass. There’s an option in AtGuard to disable the Java pop up window script, but if you do that, the window won’t pop up at all and you won’t be able to dial anything. I’m sure there’s a way around it and if I come across it, I’ll post it here.
go to shareware.com and search for “window manager” and downlosd the program called “hackit”. it lets you do anything you want to any window. weather it be minimize, put it in the background, close it altogether or just make it invisable. i use it for netzero, and it works great.
Satan, your posting of this link may save me enough money to make up for all the money you COST me by turning me on to Ebay . . . .
Is there a catch? And should I be worried about their little notice in their User Agreement that they aren’t responsible if you download virii, trojans, worms, etc. from them? I easily spend $100 a month in personal long distance phone calls, and this could be really great for my budget!
this was posted to another thread concerning free net access pop ups/banners . . ive not tried it; but go to www.shareware.com look under window manager for “hack it” . . utility is supposed to keep annoying stuff running in background . . but off your desktop.
Well, I downloaded it (thanks for th link above!) and toyed around with it. As of now, I cannot get it to keep th window repressed.
I could see it getting rid of the Net Zero window, because that is just designed to stay there forever. The java script in the window that dialpad uses ALLOWS it to be minimalized (unlike Net Zero), but it brings it to the front every 30 seconds or so, and thus far nothing I have tried will make the window not come back.
I’ll keep messing with it, but I fear that this application is “Hackit” proof.
I still will use dialpad for calls, but it sucks that I can’t do anything else while using it because of the fucking window popping to the top every 30 seconds or so.
