Diane Family European Vacation Part II

I am in the very first stages of planning another European vacation with my kids. So far my plans consist of “Hey kids, wanna go back to Germany and visit grandpa again?” I’m not certain of when but I am thinking of the Fall. I don’t know how far we will venture this time but probably a night train to Venice and maybe a flight to Ireland. I want to go back to the castles on the Rhine River in Germany (they are amazing) and my favorite Germany village of Rathenburg. However, the top of the priority list will be drinking more beer with my Euro buddies as my hangover has finally faded from the last time.

Does anyone want to make this a Dopefest?

Does the pope sit in the wood bumping his ash when he lands?

I dunno, Man in Black, I’m not Catholic.

Is this an invite along on your vacation?

Meine Mutti ist von Deutschland, aber ich habe nicht gewohnen.

Hey Diane… Since you’re looking at fall instead of this spring, there’s a far better chance I’ll be able to make arrangements. I’m not sure if I’d be joining you on the side trip to Eire, but I definitely want to see Rothenburg and the Rhine Castles at some point in my life.

Herr rubes, ich wünsche, dass Sie anwesend sind zu sie tranken die Kneipe leer.

(did that make a bit of sense?)

Mrblue - that would be great!

I think I may be in Germany for 4 to 5 weeks and plan to make a lot of side trips around Western Europe so any suggestions of places to meet would be welcome.

I must confess that it has been over a decade since I had any German classes, so I had to go online to translate what you wrote:

Mr. rubes, I desire, are drank that you present to it the tavern empty.

So are you drunk and alone in a bar? Or is this stating that you think I was tipsy in a bar posting my desires?

My favorite translation that my dad told me was:

Throw the cow over the fence some hay.
