Did anything good happen on 9.11?

I’m not looking for an answer like “We joined together as a nation” or anything like that. It was a horrible day but, statistically speaking, something good must have happened. Babies were born, people got promotions, etc. Something good must have happened in someone’s life, right? So, tell us what little bright thing happened for you on 9.11.

mmm…
PS I can’t say that anything good happened for me. :frowning:

This thread won’t have a good day. It is a poll, but it is in General Questions. Repost it in IMHO and see if it gets a response there. Mods will be by to close this puppy momentarily.

Well, it’s obvious to see that cynicism wasn’t destroyed. It would have been a good thing, but as Derleth proves, it’s not dead.

I’m going to assume this thread is half full, and by the time you read it it will be in MPSIMS. With that in mind, I’ll go to the topic at hand:

African Americans are no longer the most feared/hated minority in America.

But you meant unrelated to the tragedy, so I’ll try again:

On September the 11th, I had some really good spaghetti. I mean, it was really good. I grated some cheddar cheese on top of it, melted some butter all over it… mmmm delicious!

Well, Steven Lynch won the Democratic primary for the Ninth Congressional District of Massachusetts, as expected. Some woman won the Republican primary as well, but this being Massachusetts, no one cared.

I, and a lot of other people, got out of work early.

Hey, I like cynicism.

I’m not sure you’re allowed to like cynicism. Even its strongest supporters must be vaguely apathetic about it, lest their brains collapse in on themselves in a fit of paradoz.

I wasn’t being cynical. I was helpfully pointing out that GQ isn’t the place for polls, that this thread will probably be closed rather than moved, and that the poster should repost the thread in IMHO when that happens. Nowhere was I cynical.

Cynical at dictionary.com:

Good things that happened on 9/11/01.

My boss didn’t bitch at anyone.
He let us watch tv.

Oh yeah. I went home and didn’t bitch at anybody.
I let people watch tv.

For me, that was a pretty good day.

And I wasn’t being cynical. I was really, really being truthful.

There is no General Question here, so I’ll close this thread. You can repost in IMHO if you want, but judging from the responses here, I wouldn’t bother.
