Did Bush really wave to Stevie Wonder?

Manny-
You might take it easy on Kyomara. He probably didn’t see the warning.

Don’t see any apology, have received no email.

PS In view of this thread perhaps I should ask if this is one of those Stevie Wonder situations here.

I’m only saying this because no one else has:

Bush was seeing the person, not the disability.

:stuck_out_tongue:

What’s the big deal about this anyway? I’m sure that Stevie Wonder has someone with him nearly all the time that voices to him what they see, thus, they would have told him that the Pres was waving to him. Much like an interpreter for the deaf would sign to the deaf person that someone said ‘hi’.

Stevie Wonder can well afford someone to be with him to let him know what they see. Its very common to have such a person with you to do that.

I would congratulate the Pres if he did wave, that shows he wants all people to be treated the same.

Personally, I think Bush has been a decent (but maybe not yet good president) who has handled some terrible situations well and some normal situations terribly.

It wouldn’t surprise me if he waved at Stevie Wonder, but then it wouldn’t surprise me if I did. It also wouldn’t surprise me if he made an indeterminate gesture that could be interpreted as waving at Stevie Wonder and there were elements of society that would willfully put the worst possible spin on the event.

What the hell does it matter? Since when are manners reserved for people that can see them? If he had flipped him off, would people have not considered that insult because, hey, he’s blind? A polite gesture is a polite gesture, regardless of whether the recipient is aware of it.
