I can almost read Michelle’s thoughts during the ordeal: “Dafuq?” When his arm swinging moves beyond the subtle and heads into all-out dance-mode, she seems to give a glance of genuine concern-- is he okay? Drunk? Has he lost his balance? Is he having a stroke? Is he attempting to start the wave, and what’s the protocol if he does?
She and the president do smile at one point, because it really does seem George is trying to make them laugh. I mean, damn, Bush seems just pleased as punch to be there! Such a happy guy!
it was the first time in years that i was able to look at mr bush and laugh. i’ve never seen anyone get so excited by “the battle hymn of the republic”. even more amusing to me is that this was in texas. he was really swinging his arms!
Even the funniest people know how to behave appropriately at a somber event. The most generous interpretation was that it was a misguided attempt at cheering people up. Personally, I think he was drunk.
If it weren’t for the occasion, it would be sort of cool. As it is, with him looking over at the lady President like, “Why aren’t you getting jiggy with it?”, it really does seem like he has no idea what he’s there for.
People accuse Reagan of senility during his presidency. With this Bush, at least, I think it’s reasonable to conclude that he fried out his brain at some point, and it wasn’t post-presidency.
I don’t know anything about it from a medical standpoint, but watching my video my first thought was dementia or some other cognitive issue.
Ok yes maybe drunk and/or high but someone who should know better (and has proven himself to at least know how to stand still and look serious in the past) acting that inappropriately? It seems like someone who honestly doesn’t know what’s going on around him.
Trouble comprehending things? I know it was a lot of sentences, but you really should try reading for context instead of cherry-picking what suits your agenda.
