Somewhere in the back of my mind, I have a memory of a Frank Herbert tape I had as a kid where he discussed a time he had as a speech writer or staffer for a US senator, or something. Ring any bells?
His Wikipedia entry doesn’t mention anything about speechwriting, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
I recall one of the democratic presidential candidates from 04’, when refering to terrorism and its effect on America saying “Fear is the mindkiller.” But that was obviously after Herbert’s death.
Still it perked my ears up when I heard it.
