I had an odd memory “flash” today. I recalled a scene in a movie where someone pops a large water-filled bubble (maybe chewing gum) with a hat (maybe a bowler hat?). I can’t remember the movie - was it a Laurel and Hardy movie?
Anyone recall this scene?

You may be thinking of a scene from The Great Race (Blake Edwards, 1965) where Professor Fate (Jack Lemmon) shows his dastardly moustache-twirling colors by popping a child’s balloon with his cigar. He’s wearing either a top hat or a bowler. No water involved, though.

I’m thinking that another character put chewing gum over a leak, and it swelled into a huge water-filled balloon, which someone pokes with the brim of a hat, popping it.
