No, see that’s why it’s so obvious you were trolling. There were very FEW angry responses. A lot of people were commenting that it was a bad joke, and many were puzzled, but precious few angry posts. So when you come into the thread saying “lol see how angry you guys are” it’s very telling what kind of reaction you were expecting.

'Cause unless you think you’re the only reason people would open and respond to threads, that doesn’t make a hell of a lot of sense. I personally don’t follow him around, it’s just he says a lot of stupid stuff and I’m more likely to respond to stupidity to set things straight. I can see why he’d get all paranoid, he thinks people harp on him. Well they do, because he almost universally posts stupid and ignorant things. We’re supposed to be held to a higher standard here.

I ignored Lobohan because he has not ever said one single thing of substance that I can recall thinking, “Ok he has a point.” He just follows me around, “You believe in Qi!”, not much more than that. I think he’s a troll.
I ignored Bryan Ekers because he was passing on the prior idiots messages. Also half the time he’ll get to a point where he will understand my point, he’ll write a clear and insightful post showing that he understood fully what I was saying, and I’ll tell him that, and he’ll press the reset button just so he can keep arguing. I think he’s a troll.
I ignored ElvisL1ves because he’s just generally dumb as a post and his, “You’re a crypto-conservative”, thing just shows that discussing things with him is a waste of time. I don’t think he’s self-aware enough to be a troll.
There was a time that I thought you were part of the group just because you were there a lot, but then I realized that with you it’s kind of how you describe, we just haunt the same venues. You annoy me a lot of the time, but I don’t think you are disingenuous, so you annoy me because of how you think honestly. That’s just a personality conflict. The people I put on ignore it’s because I think there is genuine malice.

First he trolls away (posting just to stir the shit, announcing as much, remarking on the amusing quality of such trolling, etc.) and then he starts announcing who’s on his ignore list.

Against the rules in Great Debates. I don’t think it’s against the rules in The Pit, but if it is I’ll stop announcing.
As for my first post it did get action, it was moved to the Pit from MPSIMS, so it DID get moderated. It’s interesting that GFactor didn’t think it warranted the Pit and tried to move it to MPSIMS.
You might have to just accept that the mods don’t agree with your assessment as the thread was already actioned by mods.
So it could be that I’m teflon or it could just be that I’m not breaking the rules.
Also in my experience, it’s the people who initiate the trolling that are usually considered the trolls. As I am merely reacting to trolls who started a pit thread about me, it’s not me that’s being the troll. If you’ll recall I was the one that asked for the other thread to be shut down when it became a pointless train wreck.
I’m sorry if your righteous indignation is not being satisfied. But the reality is you don’t have to post in MY thread.
I think you can announce ignore lists now. Mswas is simply attacking because deep down he knows he’s wrong and looks like a fool.
As for the trolling, I’m not sure why he hasn’t been brought to task about that. I guess because people are used to his casual stupidity.

Looks to me like he’s just haunting the same venues too - and taking an even more adversarial view to percieved misinformation than I do. Which is kind of impressive really, since I have a demonstrated tendency to hijack threads just because I don’t like a turn of phrase.
And actually, based on my own posting approach, I don’t think we really have a personality conflict. I think we have a worldview conflict. You believe and/or argue things that I don’t agree with, and I don’t accomodatingly get convinced by your statements and instead argue against them - because that’s most of what I do on this message board. (If I wanted to casually chat and ‘me-too’, I wouldn’t hang out in GD or the Pit.) So its not that that we couldn’t like each other; it’s that 99.989% of the times we post at each other, it’s because we each think the other guy is wrongheaded in the head.

I mean I am willing to accept the responsibility for being a poor writer, but people consistently misquote me.
And I don’t claim that they only disagree with me because they don’t understand. I only claim that when I honestly believe they don’t understand. I mean this thread is the perfect example. Look at how many people actually thought I was comparing Obama to Hitler when I was actually contrasting Obama to Hitler by pointing out how the similarities were superficial. The joke as it was, was meant to point out the things that actually made Hitler evil. Usually it’s along the lines of, “You know who else was for UHC? Hitler!”, but being for UHC isn’t what made Hitler evil, and my joke was trying to point out what made Hitler evil, things that Obama has absolutely NOTHING in common with.
I am commonly misunderstood. That’s why I make such an effort to rephrase my position for so long because I really honestly believe that I am not communicating my ideas effectively. You should take it as a point of respect that I have spent so much time and effort trying to get you to understand where I am coming from.
But there comes a point when a misunderstanding is insurmountable.
In a different example. A Christian friend of mine on another message board was talking about how he fundamentally disagrees with Peter Singer on bioethics. He sees it as leading down a road that will ultimately devalue humanity. I disagreed. I said that I agreed with Peter Singer that the ability to have preferences was a better indicator of sentience in an animal/human than whether or not a piece of meat resembles a human but has no higher cognitive functioning. This was in relation to an article he wrote about some drastic medical procedures a couple in Australia had done on their 9 year old daughter who is still cognitively an infant. He understood me, and I understood him. We were crystal clear on each other’s position and we disagreed and there was nowhere to go with the argument. To be clear, I was saying unequivocally that a dog is of higher sentience than a human being who does not progress beyond the stage of an infant. That really bothered him. I didn’t think he was an idiot for his viewpoint on it, I just fundamentally disagreed with him, as to me it is not the configuration of the meat (the species) that has a moral value, it is the sentience.
I am getting more into the ignoring thing because people like Lobohan only want to poison the well. If I ignore them then I won’t get sidetracked as often.
