Did I imagine a thread here on the SDMB?

I could have sworn that a year or two ago there was a thread about a high school or college student (I forget which) being interviewed on NPR that gave them a joke name, like Michael Hunt or something along those lines, and the reporter never caught on.

However, I have done several searches and cannot come up with anything. Do any of you remember such a thread?

IIRC, it was one of Eve’s threads, but I remember it as a political sign she saw, not an interview. That said, if your imagining it, then I share your delusion.

I think this is it.

OMG my face hurts from laughing

Although that’s hilarious that’s not what I’m thinking of.

How about my post NPR interviews Mike Rotch from 2007?

It only got one reply, but it seems to fit the criteria.

Try as they might, a lot of people have trouble forgetting Mike Rotch.

Yes!!! That’s what I was looking for. Thank you.

Hey, anytime. You were pretty close to finding the answer yourself. After all, Mike Hunt is easy to fixate on when thinking about Mike Rotch.

Incidentally, they did address the gaffe in a From Our Listeners segment the following week.

Yeah, with a goof like that listeners are sure to call or write in about it. I was just looking for that thread because I was trying to tell my wife about it, but I couldn’t remember what joke name slipped by.

Are you sure that your wife is ready to hear about Mike Rotch?

I just figured she could use a good laugh.
Sorry

Ok, I will stop now.

And also apparently misheard “Moe’s Tavern” from The Simpsons as “Mouse Cabin.”

What, no mention of Richard Head or Harold Bush? What a shame.

Hugh Jampton?

I read an article recently - I wish I could remember where - recounting all the newspaper stories, wire photographs, and published interviews where the clueless reporter spoke to a man named “Heywood Jablome.”

Hugh G. Rection?

Miles O’Toole?

I had a dream about a week ago about a poster here (I know who he is but can’t remember his username) who has multiple issues and had entered into a marriage contract. I was reading responses in my dream from regulars here, and it was so authentic and true to form that I did a search for the thread the next morning. Couldn’t find it.

One time while watching The Soup, there was a clip from the show Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern where he went to meet a man named Mike Hawk
