Did Kamala Harris work at McDonalds?

Are you telling us it will go away if she tells all? Bullshit.
She isn’t being attacked because it is a job at MacDonalds-She is being attacked because she is Kamala Harris, and thus she is automatically wrong no matter what she decides to do. Your advice is extremely ill-advised.

I’m not convinced of that. I’ve not seen it on MAGA Twitter in a little while. Granted, they’re busy putting out the fires with Trump admitting he lost and that right wing influencers have been (knowingly or unknowingly) paid tons of money from Russia, as well as dealing with the shooting.

But I’m not convinced this actually has legs. Other than the OP, I haven’t seen anyone outside of MAGA who seems to care. And MAGA seems more concerned with other things.

oh you sweet summer child.

no, she really doesn’t. The only people this story will get traction with are people who would never vote for her anyway.

At this point, the election isn’t about undecided voters anyway, it’s about turnout and ballot access. And perhaps about whether the GOP can prevent votes from being certified.

I haven’t seen this issue anywhere outside of this thread. :person_shrugging: It sure hasn’t show up in the WSJ daily news alerts.

Same here. But I read that linked yahoo argument about Trump harping about it. I think that’s good, since he’s spending time on yet another really stupid “issue.”

It sways the people who are swayed by “Kamala is Brat” tiktoks. It’s not going to affect the people who read the WSJ.

I know Trump posted on Truth about it a few days ago. I’ve seen memes on the reddit home page and in my social media. It’s showing up in these kinds of alternate information channels, which is how a lot of people form their opinions about who to vote for. In an ideal world, people would learn about the world from the WSJ rather than tiktok, but that’s not the world we live in. If Harris doesn’t have messaging that gets into these alternate channels, then that group of people will only be seeing the message that Harris lied about working at McDonalds. They’re not going to do followup research to dig into it.

She does have messaging in those channels. Thus the “brat” meme. They are going to be full of all sorts of stuff, much of it low quality, like the question about whether she really worked for McDonald’s.

I stand by my claim that anyone who feels the need for her to prove that isn’t going to vote for her whether or not she “proves” it.

People who primarily get their news from “alternate” channels aren’t going to be convinced even if Harris had a couple hundred sworn testimonials. Don’t bring a knife to a fire fight. Address it in those channels in like manner - via memes and mockery.

Meanwhile, by Harris addressing it in more conventional ways, it convinces people there must be something to all of this because she’s bothering to address it. Where there’s smoke, and all that. She knows the rule that only some of us have apparently learned - don’t feed the trolly flames!

Show me. I would like to know if people are actually curious, or if they are just trying to spread rumors because there is no actual truth they can use against her. Repeating this stuff with the words “People are saying…” isn’t enough anymore…if it ever was in the first place.

Here’s Trump’s Truth post:

I don’t have links to the stuff I’ve seen on reddit or social media. They are just things that I see from time to time. It’s not like I’m going into the Trump subreddits or following Trump people. The reddit home page has top posts from all the subreddits and sometimes they are Trump related. And with social media, it’s whatever algorithm throws those in my feeds from relatives or whatever. I figure that if I’m seeing this stuff, then I’m sure lots of other people are as well.

People who are seeing (and putting any credence towards) Trump’s posts, or his acolytes’ posts, are likely not the “undecideds” you are worried about; their minds are already very firmly made up.

Harris’s strategy on this is clear: do not feed the trolls.

The fact that you can’t seem to remember where else you are hearing this rumor, but you can post Trump’s post tells me how serious to take this crap. Why isn’t it telling you the same thing?

Undecided voters, you say.

At this point anyone saying “Donald Trump has multiple concurrent felony court cases in progress as well as a civil case related to a woman he sexually assaulted, but I really need to know whether Kamala Harris really worked at McDonalds as a teenager or not before I make up my mind” is not going to be persuaded by any rational or evidence-based approach.

I found Trump’s post because it was linked in the article. Other things come and go in the news feed. I know I’ve seen memes about Harris at McD’s on reddit. I can’t point to the post because I browse the reddit home page and it has an endless list of the most recent popular posts in all the subreddits which changes constantly. The same with facebook news feeds. Scrolling through the feed will have lots of stories. I can remember I saw them, but I don’t remember what account or subreddit reposted them.

I do think it’s a bit ironic that you are asking for verification that these kinds of posts exist in a thread talking about the verification of Harris’s work history. And if I can’t produce the exact post in question, then I must be making it up.

The fact is that you keep saying that the rumors are all over the place and must be answered, yet the only verification you have is from Trump, and you refuse to address the problem of what happens next.
It is your claim, not mine…and right now it is nothing but unsubstantiated rumor with a bit of hate speech from Trump. What exactly are you trying to push here? Exact post? What about any post not from a hatemonger?

That’s not ironic at all. That’s precisely the point!

That’s exactly what Harris will face if she addresses this “controversy” in any but the most cursory of ways.

ETA: And let’s say you provide such cites. Will it be enough? Will you get pushback? Will you be dealing with the response rather than the substantive question? Will that distract you from the other things you need to do today?

He posts all kinds of shit just to see what works and what doesn’t.

Plus farms upon farms of bots programmed to pick those posts up and spread them far and wide

So no reason for any of us to help him out.

Thank you for posting Trump’s obvious bullshit lie #563,856.

I wonder if it’s equally important that Harris rebut Trump’s claims that battery powered boats will electrocute you, or that Windmills cause cancer? Or any other of the moronic accusations against Harris that will be trotted out?
