Did Karl Rove out the CIA Agent?

GeeDub certainly seems to think so, or at least to have thought so. Is he not on record as demanding a thorough investigation, “thorough” being another word for excruciatingly slow?

Asked and answered on both sides. Is it the sheer novelty of being right about something that compels you to keep bringing it up?

Well, there underlings, and then there are underlings . The name of Scooter Libby, who is on the staff of the Vice President, gets (or got) quite a bit of play as being the person who leaked Plame’s covert status. Someone who is an advisor to the Vice President may only be an “underling,” but look at who he’s under.

I’m sorry - I must of missed the post (prior to the one to which I am now responding) in which you said I was right.

Certainly, the novelty of such a concession coming from you would have confused me to no end; no telling what I might do.

I might even double-post after correcting an embarrassing homophonic-type error.

Might.

Not at all, I generously refuse your apology as needless. It was entirely my fault, I merely said “concede the point”, when the situation clearly called for…

“I am undone! Sackcloth and ashes, Bitter Virgins intoning Dirges of Woe and Humiliation, I am crushed beneath the ponderous weight of Bricker’s grasp of trivial and irrelevent points of law!..”

Ass

Here is the thing though Bricker. Somebody is investigating something. That indicates that she must have been a covert agent. If the president had declared that she was not then there would be no investigation to determine who outed a covert agent. See if she was not covert then why the grand jury? Sure the Pres. could order the change of covert status but I doubt he can do it retro actively. If she was not covert why are people going to jail for refusing to testify a said grand jury. Your arguments are pretty weak considering she was in fact a covert agent who was outed by someone not authorized to do so.

I thought about that, but could it be that part of the investigation is to determine whether or not she was classified as a covert agent and whether or not the leakers knew that she was?

As surely you know by now, I am inclined to give your point of view a respectful hearing. If such is offered. If you have a fair criticism to offer, be assured of my polite attention. Simple derision, such as this, does not qualify.

At this late date? After almost, what, two years? Seems to me, that would be the very first thing on the list: her status. Everything follows from that.

As to the second question: does that matter? Would a defense of ignorance be nothing more than an admission of willful recklessness? Shouldn’t the very fact of employment by the CIA be sufficient to give pause to an informed person?

This damned secret investigation is killing me!! We just don’t know what’s going on. I heard some speculation on the news earlier today that the investigation had become more about lying to the grand jury than the outing of a CIA “covert operative”.

According to Novak, he checked with the CIA (not sure who) as to whether it would be a problem, and was given a very ambiguous answer. Hence his sense that she wasn’t a covert operative-- he would’ve expected a definitive NO!! if it was indeed a problem.

If Justice is investigating at the request of the CIA, how could there be any doubt that Plame was covert? Would the CIA need Justice to tell them if their own agent was under cover?

Was it at the request of the CIA or the White House?

I do not know the answer, but I seriously doubt the White House requested this investigation.

The CIA requested the investigation.

Would you doubt Talon News ?

Well, it’s no Talon News, but CNN concurs:

As I said, does the CIA need the Justice Department to tell them if thier own agent was covert?

I don’t know. That information is classified.
