Super small explosion (for a nuke) and no radioactivity. Could it be we’ve been played?
So maybe they stuffed a bunch of M-80’s in a gopher hole and set 'em off.
I wonder how much trouble they’d be in with China if they admitted it.

I certainly wouldn’t put it past Kim Jong-Il. At small nuke (under a kiloton) takes alot more sophistication than a larger (5+ kiloton) nuke.
What’s to say we didn’t get together with the other countries that are monitoring this and go along with it and agree that he did in fact blow a nuclear bomb up. So when he starts to play that card the barganing table we know we can call his bluff?
Just look at what happenned to the last guy who bluffed that he had WMD. Seems to me that it’s more likely to have been a fizzle.

How had would it have been to do the job right? A zillion tons of TNT tamped very well plus a few hundred grams of some sort of radioactive material. Would that have foxed everyone?
The priming charge designed to force the plutonium into the middle of the core could have gone off without a chain reaction taking place.
Plus I’m hearing late word that radiation had been detected.
