Did Seventh Heaven chicken out or what last night.

OK - I’m a little embarrassed to admit this: I actually watch this show. It’s kinda like the pickled ginger after some hot sushi. It cleanses the palatte of FOX’s latest “Crazy Sluts that Attack Animals, Part 78”. That having been said…

A couple of weeks ago Jesus was mentioned by Rev. Camden during the dinner, as Libertarian said. It was actually funny. The Rev. said “You just woke up this morning and said ‘No more Jesus’?” and the line Lib quoted.

The reason that all of the food has to be kosher is because of Sarah’s mom. She is not Reform. It was a big deal in the dinner episode because they mentioned that her mother had never eaten anything that wasn’t kosher and Mom Camden had tried to make a dish (kugel, coogle?) but she had substitued ingredients and made it kosher-no-more (unwittingly, of course), only accidentally revealing this fact after Sarah’s mom had eaten some.

Any more questions? I’m sure I gots the answers!

You need to watch more carefully then, because I started watching reruns of it back when I was working nights, after not having seen it for years and years.

I clearly remember being surprised at how often they talked about Jesus, not being used to hearing his name on network tv. Sadly, I don’t remember which episodes I saw, and I’m not able to watch anymore. But they definitely mentioned Jesus quite a lot.

Believe it or not, a show doesn’t have to be nothing but daily sermons to be a Christian show about Christian life. Just because I don’t walk around singing hymns and thwacking people over the head with a Bible all day long doesn’t mean that Jesus is not a daily part of my life. Pssst…I’m gonna let you in on a little secret: Christians have normal lives too! We work, have crises, worry over little stuff, argue, eat, sleep, use the bathroom, and squabble with our neighbors too, just like you. Sorry if Little House and 7th Heaven aren’t preachy enough for you. That doesn’t mean they’re not about Christian life. Heck, an entire book of the Bible doesn’t even mention God once! Does that mean God’s not a part of it? Not likely.
