MTV was showing a marathon of “Cribs” yesterday, and I happend to catch the episode where the boys from Jackass showed off their places of living. Stevo lives in a junked up apartment where he’s one warning away from being evicted. Bam lives with his parents still. Some other guy has “been in between houses for about 11 years” and lives in a crappy truck. Do the guys not get paid at all, or do they just like to save it all and not buy flashy things, or do they just squander it all on booze?
It’s not like me to obsess over things like this, I promise. It’s just that it’s hard to imagine the guys who brought so much ill fame didn’t even get paid for the stunts.
I don’t know how much they got paid or if they got paid at all, but at least the impression I got from watching the semi-spinoff of Jackass that is Viva La Bam, Bam lives with his parents because he bought that house for them and lives with them there. So then when he does something crazy for his show like turn the house into an ice-skating rink or host a heavy-metal concert there, his parents can freak out because he is temporarily destroying their house, but can’t really stop them from doing it because he bought the house.
I don’t think the Jackass guys are hurting financially. Steve-O travels around a lot, and has some DVDs of his own, so the apartment might have been a temp thing. He’s currently doing another show on MTV called Wildboyz.
Pontius (the one living in the truck) did another Cribs and he had a much nicer house and he is also doing the Wildboyz show.
Bam lives with his parents, and I think the situation is as Sam Lowry described. I think Bam has some kind of skateboard company called CKY, but I’m not sure. This is the only way I can figure out that he has the money to do crazy stuff.
I think Bam’s “around town” car is an Audi A8 at ~70k and his second car is a Lamborghini, usually around ~250k. With his pro skateboarding money, his MTV money, and his CKY/CKY2k/CKY3…etc, etc, etc money he’s definitely not hurting.
I saw that episode and thought the whole thing was meant as a joke episode of Cribs… of course I could be very wrong, but I thought they were just doing the Jackass thing on Cribs.
The one cribs episode with Bam Margera had a short scene with his dad at the computer, Bam put his dad in a headlock or something and demanded to know how much money was in the bank, anyways he has around $500,000 when ever that was shot.
Did you see the one with Seann William Scott? He lived in a crappy apartment with a roommate… after American Pie. He was either joking or saving his money for a house.
I think the “Jackass” episode of Cribs was filmed quite a while ago. Definitly before the movie, probably around Season 2 or maybe Season 3 of Jackass the series.
After the success of the movie, I’m sure they are all doing quite well.
Bams Camp Kill Yourself (CKY) movies have always been quite a hit with the “skater” crowd, so he probably makes quite a bit from that.
I would say Johnny Knoxville is the best off, then Bam, then Steve-O, then Pontius.
