Did the Jazz just let Kobe get 60?

Did the Jazz just let Kobe get 60? Or were they really trying to prevent him from scoring, but he got 60 anyway.

Didn’t see the game. Just sounds suspicious. Kobe didn’t play well (for Kobe) all season and then he drops 60 in his last game before retiring???

He shot the ball 50 times (including 21 3-pointers) - the Lakers were just feeding him the ball. It was essentially an All Star Game. Frankly, I don’t have a big problem with it. People wanted to see Kobe play (and shoot), and neither team had anything riding on the game. The Jazz kept it competitive - they only lost 101-96.

I only saw a couple of the shots he made, but they were great. So even if the team helped him a bit, he seemed to have played well.

He played pretty well regardless, but the Jazz played about as well as you’d expect a team who knew they were freshly eliminated from the playoffs to play. It wasn’t no defense, but they weren’t exactly trying to win or force Kobe to pass the ball.

Im a life long laker fan but I was really hoping they would lose the game.

The reason? Kobe scores 60 on 50 shits…and Hus team loses. It would have been the perfect encapsulation of Hus attitude and career.

As a point of comparison, Michael Jordan went 6/15 for 15 points in his last game, a Washington Wizards’ 107-87 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Was this game like Kobe’s where everyone knew it was his last game?

You have to feel bad for those guys with the big mops who have to keep sweeping the court clean.

I watched the 4th quarter and Kobe sort of caught fire. He hit a couple bail out threes that had no business going in.

I don’t think the Jazz let Kobe score 60. They played to win the game, but they also were a crappy team with nothing to play for. I think they new Kobe was going to get fed the ball on every possession and they chose to play it straight. They didn’t double team him, press or deny him the ball which is probably a argument that they let it happen, but it’s not like they were playing All Star game style token D. They still fouled his drives and put a hand in his face on shots.

They certainly could have played harder and probably could have made the predicable “feed Kobe” gameplan into a liability but I think all of Kobe’s points were legit, or as legit as points can be in a garbage time game.

The Jazz were absolutely trying. They are just not all that good and probably a bit demoralized about being eliminated from the playoffs. It was a combination of Kobe playing well and the Jazz not going out of their way to shut him down, but they certainly weren’t giving him easy scores either.

I think so, but he did the multiple retirement thing. Not as powerful.

Well, it’s good when a retiree is still able to move his bowels so freely.

It was complete bullshit. The Jazz laid down and no one in the media has the balls to say it because you must suck Kobe’s ballsack because he is retiring.

Im KINDA OK with it because its the same reason Cal Ripken hit a home run in the game where he broke the phony consecutive game record, and I think Derek Jeter magically hit a home run in his last Yankee Stadium game. If nothing is on the line, throw the retiring guy a minnow, who cares?

I am reminded of a NFL fan who was discussing his team’s chances of making it to the “Super Bowel.”
