Did Walter Hudson Retain His Bowels For 3 Weeks At A Time?

Several years ago, I was listening to Howard Stern when he had on a guest- I believe her name was Nancy Glass- who said that she once did an interview with the 1,100 lb. Walter Hudson.

She asked him what it was like getting up and going to the bathroom, and he said it was very difficult for him, but that he didn’t need to do it very often, as he could ‘hold it’ for up to 3 weeks!

Is this even remotely possible? Wouldn’t holding it for that long be dangerous?? Wouldn’t the resulting bowel movement of everything he consumed over a 3-week period be so enormous that the plumbing in the house couldn’t handle it???

Thanks.

WALTER HUDSON The Life and Death of a Big Man

I think Walter was able to retain his bowels from the day he was born till the day he died.

Seriously…

I was all set to say bullshit to this, but a quick [url"http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=Walter+Hudson"]Google search turned up some interesting articles.

From the first:

(Bolding mine.)

(I hope that wasn’t too much to quote. Here’s the whole thing.)

Every month or TWO!!!

I can barely last two HOURS, and this guy could hold it for two MONTHS?

Wouldn’t you rupture your colon or something if you tried this?

If you read the link I think that it implies that a lot of what Hudson claimed publicly about himself when he was in media hound mode was questionable at best and pure BS at worst.

Huge people like Hudson may be able to retain their bowels for considerable periods of time but a month is absurd given his projected intake. IIRC there was an item once about him after this death that he did not want to get up unless absolutely necessary, and he would hold his bowels “until his eyes crossed”, according to one of his caretakers.

Ask anyone who’s been to bootcamp, they might tell you they held it for nearly as long, maybe longer. When I went through basic, I didn’t go for the first two weeks I was there, then fairly regularly afterwards. In speaking of the subject with others, it isn’t that uncommon. It seems most folks I talked to went 1-3 weeks without going. (um, number 2, that is) Why? Who knows-I just chalked it up to incredible stress, instant lifestyle change and sleep deprivation.

That, or the lack of coffee?
