Back in 1988 I was gloomily saying that I almost hoped that Bush would win because it was so obvious that Reagan’s budget idiocies were guaranteed to bring on a recession. If Dukakis had won, he’d be blamed and the Dems would lose the Presidency for 20 years. Instead Bush went from a 90% approval rating to a loss and Dems won the popular vote six of the next seven elections.
Same with Trump. That he’s be a disaster as President should have been obvious to every sentient human being. Yet if Clinton won against a Republican Congress, she’d be powerless and vilified every single day. Think we have protests now? Imaging white crowds with guns and the police looking the other way.
No, as much as I’ve hated these past four years, we had to have Trump to see the true colors of the reds. Like alcoholics, we had to hit bottom in order to want to go to rehab. We’re hitting bottom now. Rehab is next. With Dems controlling Congress, too.
