Did You Know Shrek 2 Is a Vehicle for the Evil Transgendered Agenda?

 You decide.

And Lobsang, it was, “I had to save my ass!”, I believe.

I exist so that you have someone to correct.
( )

I just work on the principle that some people are idiots, and that idiots will do idiotic things, like reading too much into movies. Unfortunately, some of those idiots have a lot of time on their hands and access to the outside world.

I think it goes beyond idiocy, and into the realms of [fake word]nutjobness[/fake word].

The correct term is nutjobbery.

Man, these folks could find homosexual subtexts in VeggieTales.

Man, these folks could find transgender/homosexual subtexts in VeggieTales.

 Just wanted to include everyone there, sorry.

I only do it because I love you.

The OP reminds me of this review for this children’s book:

Oddly enough, my Kindergarden-attending tot loves the book, and hasn’t tried any transgendered experiments in his class. But then, maybe some kids are just better at separating fantasy (or comedy) from reality than others…

The correct term is “executive transvestite”.

I agree on the not evil part, but really a woman? I thought that she was transgendered (or whatever the correct term is). I mean, it’s funny either way, but that has been my impression every time I watch the movie.

I wonder if that reviewer reads the Bible to the kid and if there’s been any stonings, genital mutilations or drownings.

I got your transgender propaganda right her! I mean, here:

There are more, but I can’t remember them right now.

Definately a woman, although one with way too much testosterone. Think “Janet Reno with a 5 o’clock shadow”.

Since the actual MPAA rating for the movie was PG-13 for “some crude humor, a brief substance reference and some suggestive content,” it seems like the blame lies more in the reading comprehension skills of the fundamentalists in question. This does not speak well of their ability to interpret Scripture.

Me, I would have thought that the transgendered/transvestite characterizations in this movie would have been quite acceptable to these people, seeing as how the ostensibly transgendered individual was a comically ultra-masculine, harsh character explicitly identified as “Ugly,” and the two prominent transvestite characters were an evil predator and a pathological liar whose true desire is to be a “real boy.” Clearly you just can’t please some people.

Okay, this bit of trivia is something I had not known. What’s up with that? Did the BBFC find the original casting choice objectionable? * “We’re sorry, but we cannot grant this film a PG classification, as the inclusion of Larry King violates the prohibition on excessively intense horror scenes.”*

Just my WAG, but nobody over here has a clue who Larry Whathisface is?

I suppose we should be grateful that the anti-gay religious right is spending all of its time and money fighting plush dinosaurs, teletubbies, and cartoon characters. I’m glad they’re putting all the effort into making themselves look silly – it saves us the trouble.

And for the record, Spongebob Squarepants is not gay either – we refuse to accept anyone whose fashion sense includes square pants. Seriously, he needs queer eye for the poriferan guy.

(I wonder what if we could make some of these people’s heads explode by showing them anime. They want pro-trans propaganda in a cartoon, how about VT from Cowboy Bebop? He’s a trucker and he fights crime. They want gay cartoon characters? Japan’s got a million of them. I nominate Shuichi from Gravitation. He kisses his boyfriend at least once per episode. Let’s see Spongebob do that!)

Well…perhaps, then…you might care to have a look at…THIS!

Imagine that head, interviewing Nancy Reagan.

Granted, not all photos of the man cast him in such an aggressively Nosferatu-like light, and in general he seems to be a reasonably well preserved guy. But still…that seems to be the publicity shot most in circulation right now. There’s a big ad for his show, featuring that picture, on the bus station next to my workplace. All it needs is a couple torches and a pile of human skulls to complete the look.

Seriously, though, I would not have thought that the voice talent for the Ugly Stepsister character was so critical that it would require recasting for the UK release. There’s plenty of other characters in the movie voiced by relative unknowns that weren’t rerecorded, and I can’t see why the voice recasting was deemed necessary in that case, unless there was some strange contractual arrangement in place to give Jonathan Ross’ career a boost. Or perhaps the fundamentalists are right, and there’s more significance to the Ugly Stepsister character than is immediately apparent. It just seems odd, is all.

You’re I think the fifth anime fan to mention Gravitation positively in something I’ve read, Hamish. Can you send me a link to somewhere where someone not deeply into anime such as I can read up on the story and see examples of the art in it?
