Did You Know Shrek 2 Is a Vehicle for the Evil Transgendered Agenda?

There used to be a fantastic site, but it seems to be gone now. This one has some good pictures and a bit about the characters, though it’s very out-of-date and the style is a bit overwrought.

It’s now available in any place that rents a lot of anime.

You’ve been waiting for years to use that joke, haven’t you?

I didn’t even know what he looked like until about a week ago, after the whole religious right kerfuffle.

No, I come up with stuff like this on the spur of the moment, frequently at inopportune moments like respectable dinners. I wish I was taking medication to blame it on.

Just PG. No 13.

Honey, Pepe le Pew is one of the toons that in the US are being played only late at night. Along with, among others, Speedy Gonzales.

Apparently the Political Police has decided that Pepe is offensive to French (every French person I know loves him) and “Espiry” is offensive to us Hispanics. No mention has been made of Pepe’s perception problems.

This is the same kind of people who are dubbing movies into “American Spanish” and “European Spanish” and who tried to get the copyrights on old Disney movies restarted by re-dubbing them. Apparently, for 40 years we had not been able to understand any characters in Jungle Book - makes you wonder why it was always such a huge success…

It’s a small step from VeggieTales to FruitTales. You don’t even have to leave the produce department.

REDUBBING?! What in the…?

Late… at… night? Outrage! Pepe le Pew and Speedy Gonzales were part of my childhood!

(man. now I wanna go back in time with a truckload of tapes and tape the living crap out of every cartoon I ever loved. Anyone got a spare flux capacitator?)

Opps, good call. I must have been momentarily distracted by trying to remember what the “brief substance reference” was.

During a parody of Cops, knights corner Puss in Boots and find a baggie of catnip. Puss pleads, “It isn’t mine!”

Lizardling, you are confused. The “redubbing” referred to is that of Disney movies into Spanish. Speedy and Pepe still have the comical accents Mel Blanc originally gave them.

Terrifel has it right. The writers and animators deliberately put adult references and innuendo in Shrek I and II. They aren’t trying to be covert - it’s their way of appealing to all ages. The tykes like the talking animals, their parents enjoy the sly digs at the Disney empire and the double entendres.

For anybody not to “get” that in about 2 seconds makes them dumber than a box of rocks.
One belief I’ve read in Fundamentalist Christian parenting books is that once a child sees/hears something inappropriate it gets stuck in his head and there’s no getting it out.
So parents are urged to go to great lengths not to allow their kids to see or even be aware of what they deem to be the wrong types of things.

They are also taught that kids should be made to do whatever they are told without introspection. From that world view, it would make sense for a parent to think that if a child read about a kid who took off his clothes in a book, the child would feel compelled to take off his clothes too.

Jonathon Ross is certainly easier on the eye. However his prominence, and of course influence, as a TV Film Critic was probably what swung it.

Apparently, from this

Local celebs, heh, Jonathon Ross is very high profile in the UK but I bet I’m not the only one who’s heard of Joan Rivers and can’t think which celebrity “Kate” Kate Thornton is.
