Did you sleep well last night?

Well, if you did, what kind of mattress did you sleep on? I’ve been looking at mattresses and can’t make up my mind at all.

I grew up on spring coil mattress

Mr Kiffa likes thick foam which we have right now.

We’ve had a regular waterbed which was ok but not on a regular basis.

I have tried those Swedish memory foam and air tube with bed pillow, but not for an entire night.

So what would you personally recommend and why?

I have a Sealy Posture-pedic spring coil mattress. I heartily recommend it for no reason other than I’ve had it for three years and never been more comfortable sleeping. I’ve never been able to rest well on a water bed, personally.

I have a regular spring coil mattress, but with a feather mattress on top of that. The spring coil gives good support, but the 4" thick feather mattress just gives it that perfect “sleeping-on-a-cloud” effect. I usually sleep very well in that bed.

I just spent Friday night (well, pre-dawn Saturday, really) on a friend’s fold-out couch and I thought I was in hell. I think I slept a total of 2 hours. Thank gawd that’s not a regular thing for me.

JavaMaven1 and JBirdman12: Thanks for your responses. I would like to hear from some more folks, so I am bumping this once; maybe there’ll be more this morning once those who like their mattresses have woken up…

I have one of those air matress things that you have a controller and can adjust the amount of firmness you want in it.

And I slept extremely soundly last night, just not long enough.

I have a firm coil spring mattress with a piece of egg crate foam underneath all of the sheets. The foam is ridiculously effective in eliminating single point contacts for your body.

I slept like a rock last night. I think that it had more to do with getting up at four AM after four hours sleep (damn SD boards!) on Sunday and then standing for hours hawking my wares at the Livermore Electronic Flea Market. A quick shower, some chicken curry with my neighbor, an episode of “Futurama” and then ten straight hours of unconsciousness. Life is good!

PS: Kiffa and branchy, wish you all could make it out here for the Berkeley, CA Halloween Dopefest.
