I’m going to start a diet.
Tomorrow.
For real.
Wish me luck.
(I’m doing Atkins again since it works for me. I moved to the south in 2005 and went crazy eating rice, potatoes and biscuits. No more!)

I’ve decided to make it a little easier by waiting until after Christmas. I too will be doing Atkins again, I had great success with it last time, and replaced all my starches with vegetables.
My mother who ate steaks, and bacon and a lot of eggs and fat couldn’t figure out why I lost and she didn’t. Duh EAT YOUR VEGGIES. Instead of a meal with a protein starch and a vegetable, I had a protein and two veggies. I ate healthier on Atkins than most other diets I’ve been on.
It doesn’t help that when I went off it I started eating my beloved jelly donuts
Atkins worked great for me a couple years ago. I dropped about 20 pounds in about two and a half weeks in college. I’m up to about 230 right now, when I should be at about 215, so I’m going to try a juice diet for five days, starting tomorrow.
I’m not sure how much dieting you’ve done in the past, but my main piece of advice would be: “Don’t let yourself get hungry!” It sounds counterintuitive, but letting yourself get hungry leads to binge-purge, which is worse than not having started in the first place.
This is the best part of Atkins. I never got hungry like with some diets, and felt like I could have a bite to eat whenever I wanted a snack.
I had good results with Atkins a few years ago, and really should start it back up again in full force and drop about 20 pounds or so. My work schedule is such that eating properly-prepared meals is difficult, but if I get myself back on track I can do it.
Good luck, jali!
