Dinner is on me in Indianapolis.

Damn damn damn… I knew I shoulda logged in this weekend! I don’t think I can make it tonite, guys… too short of notice… :frowning: Let me know if you think you’re up for another meeting

Cranky - when you heading Indy-ways? Would love to have the chance to meet you (but you know that!)

[shaking finger and using disapproving tone]BAD POLITZANIA, BAD, BAD GIRL/BOY!!! [/SFAUDT]

Any time!! (Excluding Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. And no weekends, 'cause that’s when the meal ticket - OOPS - I mean, our great pal inertia has go go back to ChiTown.)

When it gets nice enough out (I mean consistently), we should do something at either Broad Ripple, Holliday, or Eagle Creek park. (I think they all have shelters that can be reserved.) A little HoosierDope in the Park, or something? A pitch-in, even?

Well, damn, I just got back from Indy yesterday from a weekend visiting my uncle. I guess that’s what I get for not paying attention to the boards for a while.

Yo peeps. The big swing is on yay!!! I’ve got short brown hair ('cause I cut it all off a few months ago), glasses and dressed all in black 'cept for the brown shoes. I’d’ve worn black shoes, but they’re not as comfortable and I didn’t want to have to lug around another pair of shoes all week.

I’ll get in around 7:00 and order a pitcher or two and we’ll get some chow around 7:30 I guess.

Sorry I missed it. I ended up skipping work to go to IUPUI to work on the project for my class. I thought it was due yesterday, in reality tomorrow, and in class it was extended to next week. Of course, it was on the most gorgeous day of the year so far…

How did it go?

And I might be a ringleader for the Naptown Dopefest this summer…

A splendid time was had by all. Unless I miscounted, we were seven folks, sticky with wing sauce and basking in the shared brilliance of StraightDopedness. There was Inertia, of course, who spearheaded this whole gig and graciously picked up the tab. Also, there were Howard Juneau, bodypoet, Munch, Avarie537, todd33rpm, and me, AskNott.

And lo, the intrepid travelers braved the perils of I-65, 31, and 37 to arrive safely at their destination and bask in the glory of their fellow Ignorance Fighters. Well-met and well-fed (thanks, inertia!), the intelligentsia, minutae, and general trivia were bantered about as only We Dopers can banter them.

-OR-

Some people drove as much as an hour each way (inertia doesn’t count - he has to be here anyway) to attend the First Ever IndyDopeFest. We stuffed ourselves and talked a lot.

Let’s do it again!!

It was so great to walk into a room, sit down with a group of people I’d never met face-to-face before and get chummy as if we were old college friends.

Between stories about janitorial fun, why some breeds of dogs are better than others and some of the best wings and burgers on the planet, it was a great night to hang out. Now all we have to do is figure out how to stage a wing-eating contest against the Indiana Firebirds fans and we’re home free.

Anybody that didn’t make it: WATCH THIS SPACE. I suspect that we’ll be doing this again very soon.

It was a pleasure to meet all of you that made it…and be sure to stay in touch; my e-mail’s on here.

A few thank yous are in order:

inertia, thanks for the great idea and for picking up the tab. I look forward to hearing more from you about the wacky world of takeovers and programming.

Avarie537, thank you for getting ahold of the Bloomington dopers and inviting us along for the fun. Your diligence at tracking us down was much appreciated. I may now have a fear of spaniels that I’ll never be adequately able to explain to strangers…

bodypoet, thank you for going with me and letting me drive us up. Your company to and from was part of why the night was so special.

AskNott, thank you for the amusing tales and for wearing the t-shirt that allowed us to all find each other.

Munch, thank you for being as charismatic and entertaining in real life as you are on the boards. It was good to meet you.

Howard Juneau, it was good to meet somebody from near my old stomping grounds. Thank you for reminding me that the world isn’t always as large and scary as it pretends to be on occasion.

I can’t wait for the next time. Say the word and I’ll be there, and hopefully a few more Dopers will be in tow (I’m already working on a few people).

And Dopefest Indy 2003 (Spring Version) finds its way into the record books as a complete delight!

Thanks again to inertia for taking up the initiative (as well as the check!)

Absolutely gotta do this again

It was lovely. Good food, good friends.

AND, get this: I didn’t end up an hour late. But that was probably only because Todd drove.

I’m with everyone else: Let’s do it again! Maybe we can buy inertia’s dinner this time!

hugs
karol

OK, we talked about it, and here it is!!

ChiDope 2003!!!

Who’s comin’ with me?!?!?!
