It was so great to walk into a room, sit down with a group of people I’d never met face-to-face before and get chummy as if we were old college friends.
Between stories about janitorial fun, why some breeds of dogs are better than others and some of the best wings and burgers on the planet, it was a great night to hang out. Now all we have to do is figure out how to stage a wing-eating contest against the Indiana Firebirds fans and we’re home free.
Anybody that didn’t make it: WATCH THIS SPACE. I suspect that we’ll be doing this again very soon.
It was a pleasure to meet all of you that made it…and be sure to stay in touch; my e-mail’s on here.
A few thank yous are in order:
inertia, thanks for the great idea and for picking up the tab. I look forward to hearing more from you about the wacky world of takeovers and programming.
Avarie537, thank you for getting ahold of the Bloomington dopers and inviting us along for the fun. Your diligence at tracking us down was much appreciated. I may now have a fear of spaniels that I’ll never be adequately able to explain to strangers…
bodypoet, thank you for going with me and letting me drive us up. Your company to and from was part of why the night was so special.
AskNott, thank you for the amusing tales and for wearing the t-shirt that allowed us to all find each other.
Munch, thank you for being as charismatic and entertaining in real life as you are on the boards. It was good to meet you.
Howard Juneau, it was good to meet somebody from near my old stomping grounds. Thank you for reminding me that the world isn’t always as large and scary as it pretends to be on occasion.
I can’t wait for the next time. Say the word and I’ll be there, and hopefully a few more Dopers will be in tow (I’m already working on a few people).
