An out-of-towner here that would love to come, especially a weekend 'Fest. Are there any interesting things coming to Indy in the next few months? If so, maybe Mr. Ruby and I will make a mini-vacation out of it.
Jim, it will only be the third HoosierDopeFest Ever anyway!! We haven’t even gotten drunk all the way yet.
Let’s go for a weekend in July - I will toss out the date of 19-20.
Where would we like to go? Broad Ripple Park? Eagle Creek? I’m thinking some place where we can grill and set up a buffet-style lunch or dinner. Whaddaya think?
Well, upon arriving home and asking the hubby, we’re on!!
Saturday, July 19 at Casa de Avarie!! Now we need to figure out food!! Do we wanna do lunch time, or have arrivals in the afternoon and grill some grub for dinner? Suggestions, please!! Also, if it would make things easier, I have no problems preparing/providing the food (and charging a cover fee to recoup the cost). I will suggest BYOB, though.
For any hardcore drinkers who WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO DRIVE HOME DRUNK!!!, I do have a spare bedroom, a comfy couch, and a queen-size air mattress.
Oh, Cranky, that would be awesome!! Now we just need to get Broomstick to drive down, and we’ll have a whoppin’ big bitch-fest!!
hee-hee!!
inertia has already called dibs on the air mattress, but I’ve still got a queen bed and a comfy couch. In a pinch, we’ve got our partially-finished attic room where a few people could spread out a sleeping bag or something. My hubby and I have also slept successfully in the recliner.
I’m so excited! Honest to God, I really like entertaining and planning and such things. Maybe I should seek a career in professional event planning. Or I could be a wedding planner. Hmmm…
What shall we do for food? As I said, I have no problem doing the planning, purchasing, and preparing (so long as y’all will pitch in a couple of bucks) of the food. I’m thinking we should stick to pretty basic grillin’ stuff. Chicken, burgers, brats, hot dogs (if someone insists) with potato salad, slaw, baked beans, corn, salad, etc. If you have any special requests, let me know.
If we can come to a consensus on soda, I’ll buy some 2-liters. As far as booze goes, we’ve got two liquor stores within 5 minutes of us, so it will be within easy reach. We’ve got a big cooler for ice and beverages.
So far, the tentative guest list is:

Damn - I’m gonna have to mow the back lawn!!
Somebody could pitch a tent in the backyard once the house fills up, too.
Excellent. That was going to be the date of my date (as seen in “Describe your latest Romantic Risk”), but that obviously has been called off. The after I’m at a wedding.
So Munch is in. If push comes to shove, there’s always a tent in my trunk in case of emergencies. Nubile females lining up to console poor, heartbroken Munch will receive top priority.
