But again this hasn’t mattered to DIo. Who continues to state that anyone pushing to change laws in other states just wants to help out the pedos.

Since I have no doubt that it was Dio who reported me in the last thread, I offer this response:
I feel very sorry for your daughters having such a retarded father. I wouldn’t care, except I honestly think they are in real danger. The fact that you would teach them that even consensual sex is not their fault indicates that they could go around raping people, and you would still blame who they raped.

I dunno; it’s a little irritating when Dio comes swinging in with absolute pronouncements about things that you really can’t be absolutely sure about, but it seems to me that it just makes him look a little foolish to say things like that.
It’s obviously possible to imagine a 14 year old girl that had plastic surgery to appear older, was outfitted with a new set of documents from the Witness Protection Program, settles down in Montana with an ID that shows her to be 21, gets a job bartending, and after a year of working the bar six nights a week, goes home with one of the waiters and has sex.
So there’s a guy that’s known the girl for a year, and is still having sex with a 15 year old.

It’s obviously not too likely. Where Diogenes enters massive fail mode is his utter inability concede the rare possibility, and simply point out that the vast majority of cases will not involve such levels of deception. In such a case, we can imagine that the hapless waiter would be protected by prosecutorial discretion, jury nullification, or judicial leniency. It’s hard to imagine a prosecutor that would bring those charges, hard to imagine the jury hat would convict, and hard to imagine a judge that would impose a harsh sentence.
Meanwhile, the strict liability laws protect the other 99.999-ish percent of the cases where the guy needs to be prosecuted but could hide behind a “I thought she was 18” defense and avoid justice thereby.
I think the word you’re looking for here is “schtupped.” Schlepping might come into play if we were talking about the Mann Act.
That’s pretty much it. Dio doesn’t argue, he just repeats his stance over and over and over until people give up and go away, and when that stance is zero tolerance it’s especially stupid. But I suppose you have to be thickheaded if you’re going to take zero tolerance as your stance.

To a certain extent, I can see where Dio comes from. I know my husband and his best friend have talked about how crazy it is having a daughter, and how they view all men (and their own actions in their youth) through a different lens now.
But damn it, they need to understand that their daughters are not their property. There’s a way to raise a girl that allows her to have sexual autonomy and not have hangups about her future sex life. Because it’s gonna happen, whether you like it or not, and they will absorb the attitude you have about sex, just as they absorb everything else you say and do. And teenagers are going to have sex. What you need to do is prepare them for it both physically and emotionally, and make sure that they trust that you won’t fly off the handle if they confide in you–it’s your responsibility to make sure your sexually active teen has access to birth control, for example. If they think you’re going to go nuts and call their boyfriend a predator and freak out, they’ll just do it behind your back–which is dangerous to their lives and your father-daughter relationship.
My parents had open discussions with me about sex from a very early age, and I knew that if I wanted to have sex, I could go to them and they would take me to the doctor and get me on birth control. I did, and they lived up to their part of the bargain. I lost my virginity at 15 to my 18-year-old boyfriend. He was not a predator–we were one grade apart in school, and cared for one another quite a bit. If my parents were nuts about it, I still would have had sex–I just may have been much less safe about it.

Yes, but Dio is highly entertaining while he’s doing it. I don’t care what he’s talking about - it doesn’t matter - he takes some extreme position, and says it again and again and again without conceding anything whatsoever, and eventually people get mad at him! It’s awesome.
