First turn is adjudicated in my game. The triple alliance i had hoped for didn’t come to fruition, but hopefully another is in the offering. Fairly standard opening for everyone.

The Austrian player must really not like the Italian player. His opening was so irrational it’s hard to believe there aren’t factors external to the game coming into play there.

My first season’s moves are in. No surprises for me, although England managed to finesse the channel and his army is in Wales. My Munich army is in the Ruhr. My other moves were to Denmark and Kiel.

So far there was a bounce in the channel, the early signs of a E/G and a “special” Russia. I could be quite screwed.
Hello all. Just wanted to get a bump, and to ask all you Fighting Ignorance to gather round and check your emails. Things are warming up a little in my game.
Winter 01 was just adjudicated in my game, I have to be happy with 2 builds as Italy, I’ll try to get the rest out via e-mail.

So what do you think, should I stab England by moving to the channel in Fall '01? There’s a strong (likely 6 SC) Germany I’m unsure of and a completely handicapped Russia due to a screwed up first round order. Italy is an ally, should I be in a hurry to make an enemy? I’ve bounced in the channel in Spring '01 and will probably get Belgium and Portugal as builds.
Advice sought quickly.
You’ll need to choose an ally and target quickly. If Germany will commit to allying with you against England and builds Fleets I’d go with that. Otherwise make nice with England and Russia and hit Germany.

In my game, the Fall 1902 deadline is Wednesday. As England, I picked up Norway last year, and I occupied Holland last move, which I will be able to hold through the fall.
I’m presently allied with France, fighting Germany, and have a friendly and peaceful coexistence with Russia. Germany moved A Mun-Bur in Fall 1901, and Italy supported German A Bur-Mar in Spring 1902, so France and Germany aren’t likely to unite against me anytime soon.
Every time I’ve seen France played well it’s been because they were the last Power to make an enemy. With Iberia and Belgium within your grasp you can easily wait a couple years to get embroiled without suffering for it.
The main thing to avoid with the ‘wait-and-see’ approach is an E/G against you, but a weak Russia suggests that they’d be better served to head in that direction.
I would guess that G might be eager to hit E due to his strength --a 3-center 1901 for him means that he can afford to make fleets. I’d encourage that approach, but try to let him make the first move. Being overly aggressive can kill you fast.
Well, as you’ve all probably assumed, the turn is passed and I decided to avoid conflict on all fronts. At some point I could be in trouble with Italy since he’s going to be pushing for me to go to war with someone.
I moved to MAO instead of the channel, freeing Brest for a possible build if needed, and England honored his agreement and convoyed to Norway leaving the channel free and holding a fleet in London. I decided to make a agreement with Germany that he wouldn’t block my move to Belgium in exchange for me not taking Munich. This might betrouble since he was therefore able to score a 3 SC '01. Lets hope everyone bands against him as a result.
I got my 2 builds and should easily pick up Spain on the way back, Germany and England aren’t very friendly and I’m somewhat trusted by both, through no real rivalries are evident. Hopefully, I can persuade Germany to build fleets and to move east against a weak Russia. Maybe he’ll help me position for a fatal stab on England. We’ll see. Russia managed to get one build, so the balance of power isn’t too lopsided just yet.
