I’ve been trying to include a link to a jpg or mpg on my harddrive. Dirctions tell me that I need to click on Browse at the bottom of the post to get to that jpg. I don’t have a Browse at the bottom of a new post. For me, the directions do not seem to apply to what is shown. I’ve tried using guided and enhanced posting methods, and all that happens is that I’m directed to type in a URL. But there is no URL to type. Unless I’m supposed to use my own computer as a URL, in which case, I don’t know how to do that, either. I had wanted to get the dopers to help me identify an intriguiging natural phenomenon, but without some sort of visual help, I couldn’t expect much from them. What am I missing? What don’t I know that would help me - at least with this issue? thanks. xo C.
It seems that what you are trying to do is send an attachment with your post, which you are not allowed to do. You will need to post that jpg. on a web server somehere, and link to that. That’s why it is asking for a URL.
Can’t help you, but I did have similar problems even after posting a similar thread. I thought it was me but maybe those instructions could use some clarity?
I’d link to the thread but, you know…
Ok, so everyone who includes a link in their post has a webserver to which these links are uploaded? Ok. Now I just have to figure out what the hell that means, how to do it, and then I’ll bring the question out of hibernation. Of course, it will be pretty much too late by that time, but I appreciate the responses. xo C.
Google “free website” or “free webserver”.
CC, I notice your e-mail address is on AOL. AOL provides 2 megs of server space to each screen name, where they can put up their own web sites, pictures, etc.
I believe it’s at keyword: hometown
