I posted this morning in a perfectly innocuous CS thread on “Shakespeare’s worst play.” Now the thread is gone. I understand the mods flush a thread down the memory hole whenever they figure out the OP was a sock for a banned member. That’s a defensible practice, but not fair to the rest of us, who posted in all innocence and now can’t access our posts even for reference purposes. Wouldn’t locking the offending thread be adequate?
IANAModerator, but I think the overriding objective is to purge anything posted by a sock. Since this might cause continuity problems if the other replies to the thread were left in place, it’s simpler just to remove the entire thread.
Worst board policy ever.
Quite honestly, I would think a troll would be gleeful about disappearing threads ruining it for the rest of us, more so than having their “work” displayed forever.
Yep, gives the sock more power of board content than regular members. Only socks have to power to make threads disappear.
Well, if you look hard, that thread should reappear right about…now!
I was doing laundry this morning and was picking up dirty footwear. In my haste, I forgot that I can jigger things around and get the thread back. Without the OP though. It’ll read a little funny at first.
Sorry about that.
