The reason it was the last straw for me is that it was a very obvious and well documented move to end food distribution to starving people. The Israelis apparently didn’t care they were killing innocents they seem to never care about that. It’s all about moving their agenda forward and trying to rationalize it as they go. It appears to me that they are clearing out Gaza and the West Bank in whatever ways they can i.e. sniping/bombing, evacuating, starving, the Palestinians. All the shit they’ve pulled, no news crews, moving thousands of people from one side of the country to the other, “It’s safe here, not here” , then bombing the crap out of them anyway. Then add killing aid workers, refusing to let supplies in, systematically destroying every hospital, murdering civilians particularly babies and children and shrugging it off as, “collateral damage.”
I don’t know how anyone can continue to give them the benefit of the doubt. They’re genocidal war criminals. The whole of the government and the upper military should be tried for war crimes. But they are a, “Democracy,” and traditional US allies, so they are getting away with it. It’s so disgusting, immoral, and tragic.
Because the Holocaust and “Never again for us, we mean. We’re totally cool doing it, though!” or some shit like that.

He (and a number of other officials) who have more of a spine than Netanyahu took responsibility for the disaster of Oct 7 almost immediately; presumably, some of the others will resign in the coming weeks and months as well. (Any prime minister worth their salt would have resigned as well, or at least announced their plans to).
According to a source close to him it’s also in part a political move, with him trying to avoid a situation where Netanyahu’s supporters can pin the failure of Oct 7 on him. No English source, sorry:

Well, i prefer discussion in a place i don’t moderate. And i like the freedom of pit discussions. I’m not planning on calling anyone names. (I don’t believe I’ve done so to date, and my plan is to stick to that.) But I dunno, pit discussions are often more complete than the narrow discussions that some other fora foster.

Because of the total incompetence of Israeli leadership and the IDF, Hamas continues to trickle back into parts of Gaza that were already “cleared”. In some cases they’re fighting Hamas in the same area for a third time.
This Israeli government, and this IDF, are completely failing in their stated mission, much less actually helping the long term security of Israel. And they’re killing thousands of civilians in the process.

Israeli settlers brutalize a Palestinian truck driver for no reason. This can’t be separated from the current war – while Israel is demolishing Gaza with military force, West Bank settlers are brutalizing Palestinians with little or no consequences. Israel is sabotaging its own security on multiple fronts (as well as causing or allowing immense suffering for no reason).
I didn’t understand how the settlers can get away with what they do. If i went to the Navajo Nation and started building myself a house, i would be thrown out, and suffer other consequences. If i went to Mexico, and appropriated some land and started building, I’d be thrown out, and probably suffer other consequences. If i used weapons to defend “my” homestead, I’d end up in prison, or dead.
How do the settlers get away with it?
If the Navajo or Mexico spent the last 50 years lobbing rockets at US cities, kidnapping and murdering US citizens, and otherwise terrorizing the US because they declared that America should not exist - do you think the US government would make it a very high priority to clear you out for trespassing?
That’s how the settlers “get away with it” - there’s no political will to go and deal with them because no one wants to do such a massive favor for a group that’s perceived as so hostile.
Now, I happen to be in the camp that says we should clear them out for us, not for the Palestinians. But I’m sure you can see how that’d be a tough sell.
