Dislike for the new look of MetaCritic

I’ve used MetaCritic for years, specifically the games section. It was a very quick, easy-to-read, easy-to-use site to see recent releases, best-evers, and upcoming games - all on one screen.

It was. With the revamp (sometime in the past week or two?), it is now much more difficult to read and navigate. Rather than a single list of games by release date with scores easy to see (everything lined up), there are now multiple boxes in all sorts of places, with releases for other platforms in some boxes even though I’m on the page for a specific platform.

I hate it. For me, it has lost the functionality it was good for, so much so that I probably won’t go back. Is this an “improvement” brought by CBS Interactive?

Am I alone in my opinion?

I am mixed, but am generally impressed with the changes. I have not noticed that they have dropped anything that I would normally use, and they have made some nice refinements.

Two good things:
[ul]
[li]They eliminated the horrible “yellow text on dark blue background” color scheme. The whole “look” has improved, although I do find it a little too generic and sterile.[/li][li]They moved the useless and never changing “all time high scores” box that used to dominate the main pages.[/li][/ul]

Grrrr… Okay, I will share your displeasure. For the life of me, I cannot see how to access one of my most used features: the upcoming release calendar for DVDs. Wherever I expect it to be, I am treated with upcoming theatrical releases instead of DVD issues.

After ignoring Metacritic for a couple of months, I went to visit it today and saw that they have the upcoming release schedule working now. Yeah! It is back on my bookmark list.

After six years of greatness, Metacritic has finally jumped! The have gone full phone/tablet view: lots of pretty pictures, gratuitous white space, big icons for social apps. Such a sad day.

Thanks, Trump.
