    Dang. This is heavily skewed to the modern. (I wouldn’t have suspected that of myself.)

Many early or obscure movies suffered early on from people voting for what they had seen over what they had not. The four you mention all have flaws, minor as they may be on their own, making them pale in comparison to the big three. The Menken/Ashman movies are simply on another level.
Groove is a different thing. Not only does it have irrational love from people of the SDMB ilk (myself included) it was aided by matchups against easy competition and a second-round bye.
