Disney-Pixar movies

What year did “Toy Story” debut? …and also, “Monsters, Inc.”? Thanks!

Toy Story-1995
Monsters, Inc-2001

1995 and 2001

No offense, Jinx, but why post such a simple, easily-answered factual question here - or anywhere on the SDMB, really?

Yeah, there is always www.imdb.com, Wikipedia, Google?

Well, let’s take it in a different direction then.
How would you personally rank Pixar films? Best to worst.
(Include or exclude Wall-E as applicable.)

The Incredibles
Finding Nemo
Ratatouille
Toy Story
Bug’s Life
Toy Story 2
Cars
Monsters Inc.

I’ve managed to never get aorund to seeing Ratatouille, which I plan to remedy, but until I do:

  1. WALL-E

  2. Finding Nemo

  3. Toy Story

  4. The Incredibles

  5. Toy Story 2

  6. Monsters, Inc.

  7. A Bug’s Life

  8. Cars

The space is intentional. The movies 1-6 are magnificent films, and “Toy Story 2” is better than at least 49 out of every 50 movies that come down the pike, so its ranking as #5 should not be taken as a slight against it. WALL-E is every bit as wonderful and brilliant as you’re hearing.

“A Bug’s Life” and “Cars” were not that great, but still very good.

Here are my most-to-least favorites (“least” being relative, because I think they’re all good):

  1. Toy Story 2
  2. The Incredibles
  3. Ratatouille
  4. WALL-E
  5. Toy Story
  6. Monsters, Inc.
  7. Finding Nemo
  8. A Bug’s Life
  9. Cars

I’ve only seen Toy Story, Toy Story 2, A Bug’s Life, and Finding Nemo but I love them all. But love Toy Story 2 and Nemo the most.

Based on how often I re-watch them, I’d say:
[ul]
[li]Finding Nemo[/li][li]Incredibles[/li][li]Toy Story 2[/li][li]Toy Story 1[/li][li]Monsters Inc[/li][li]Ratatouille[/li][li]A Bug’s Life[/li][li]Cars[/li][/ul]
(Wall*E doesn’t get released here until September)

  1. Finding Nemo
  2. Monsters, Inc.
  3. The Incredibles
  4. Ratatouille
  5. Toy Story 2
  6. Toy Story
  7. WALL-E
  8. A Bug’s Life
  9. Cars

Cars and WALL-E were rather disappointing to me, I’m afraid. Still ahead of the competition, perhaps, although I wouldn’t say so with such certainty as others do.

I do feel I’m in the minority for liking Monsters, Inc. so much. They had me at the promo before Harry Potter …

My list: favorite to less than favorites.

  1. Monsters, Inc.
  2. Toy Story
  3. Finding Nemo
  4. A Bug’s Life
  5. The Incredibles
  6. Cars
  7. Toy Story 2

I haven’t seen either Ratatouille or Wall-E, but I imagine they’ll be ahead of TS2. (I didn’t love TS2.)

From my most to my least favorite:

The Incredibles
Toy Story 2
Toy Story
WALL-E
Monsters, Inc.
A Bug’s Life
Finding Nemo
Ratatouille
Cars

The worst Pixar movie is still better than the overwhelming majority of other Hollywood releases.

My List:

The Incredibles - One of the greatest movies ever made.

The next 6 are all very good movies and can go in any order.
Toy Story
Monsters, Inc.
Toy Story 2
Finding Nemo
- My kids loved this one and would put it second.
Ratatouille
WALL-E

A Bug’s Life - Not great but not bad. My kids enjoyed it.

Cars - This movie was not only was miserable for me, but my kids barely sat through it. They were enraptured by the other 8.

Pixar has 7 very good or better movies and 1 okay movie and 1 Dud in my book.

The Incredibles
Wall-E
Finding Nemo
Toy Story 2
Ratatouille
Toy Story
Monsters, Inc.
A Bug’s Life
Cars

Everything up through Toy Story count as among some of the greatest films ever made. Monsters, Inc. and A Bug’s Life were solid films, but not exceptional. Cars was decent enough for a kids film, but not worth seeing if you don’t have a six year old.

1)The Incredibles
2)Cars
3)Monsters Inc.
4)Bug’s Life
5)Toy Story
6)Finding Nemo
7)Toy Story 2
8)Ratatouille

Best to worst.

Gah, I was planning on starting this exact thread, well the ranking Pixar movies part of it anyways, once I saw WALL-E which I just did a few minutes ago. And here I miss my chance by mere hours.

Anways:

  1. Toy Story
    1a. Toy Story 2
  2. WALL-E
  3. The Incredibles
  4. Finding Nemo
  5. Monsters Inc.
  6. A Bugs Life
  7. Cars
  8. Ratatouille

I’m a huge Pixar fan and I loved WALL-E. It’s only a hair behind the Toy Story series for me and I think the edge has mostly to do with the sheer number of great voice actors in Toy Story where WALL-E is much more subtle with the limited dialogue. The rest are all tightly bunched together in a second tier with the exception of Ratatouille. Man I didn’t like that movie at all. There wasn’t a single sympathetic character in that whole movie and the plot was about as boring as can be, it sure looked pretty though.

  1. Toy Story 2
  2. Toy Story
  3. A Bug’s Life
  4. Wall-E
  5. Cars
  6. Monsters, Inc.
  7. Finding Nemo
  8. The Incredibles
  9. Ratatouille

They’re all winners in my book, though.

Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc., The Incredibles, WALL-E, Toy Story - Loved them;

Ratatouille, A Bug’s Life - liked them;

Toy Story 2, Cars - indifferent to them.

Enchanted was sweet and the Narnia movies are pretty decent, but Disney should just team up with Pixar permanently in the future. That new Beverly Hills Chihuahua movie makes me cringe and shudder just typing the title.

I’m with you on Monsters, Inc. It’s my favorite Pixar movie

  1. Monsters, Inc.
  2. Toy Story 2
  3. Finding Nemo
  4. Toy Story
  5. The Incredibles
  6. Ratatouille
  7. Cars
  8. A Bug’s Life
