Disney question

I remember from childhood the Disney valentine’s day special. They took Disney cartoons and set them to love songs. It was hosted by Ludwig Van Drake.

I want to know all the songs they used. I can only remember obvious ones (“Mickey” for Mickey, or “Teddy Bear” for Bongo of Fun & Fancy Free), but whenever I hear the other songs I always think of the special. I just can’t remember what the songs are now.

Does anyone know what I’m talking about? I’d like to get the list together by the end of the week. I’d be grateful for any help you all can provide.

The only thing that comes to mind is Elton Johns “Don’t go breaking my heart” and it having Pluto in the cartoon. Don’t know if that helps though…

You mignt try e-mailing Disney (good luck getting a prompt response).

I absolutely could not find this anywhere. I found it in episode listings on Toonarific (I think it was this one. Or maybe it was one of the other two , but no song listings.
This might be the one thing that is not on the internet!

Good luck

yeah! “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” was definitely one of them!

It might not be on the internet, but we might be able to piece it together from memory.

So far we’ve got:

Don’t go breaking my heart
Mickey
Teddy bear

I don’t know how many more there are supposed to be, but I don’t think this is all of them.

Hmm. I think I remember what you mean, but I don’t remember “Don’t go Breaking my Heart.”

Did it have scenes from “Lady and the Tramp” with the song “I only have Eyes for You” playing?

And “Let’s Hear it for the Boy” playing over, um, I don’t remember which cartoon?

Any of this sound right?

I used to work in a call center for Disney and part of my job description was answering the emails that came in, and trust me, not only will your answer not be prompt, it will be of no help whatsoever.

Every email is answerable from a dialogue tree (freestyle responses are not just frowned upon, but unacceptable), except trivia questions (which this inquiry would be deemed), which are responded to by referring the submitter to a search engine.

As a side note to my hijack, Disney is an evil company and my personal advice would be to not support them. They rely heavily on the good name the company built back when, and they abuse that trust now every chance they get.

Sorry for the hijack, good luck with finding out the answer to your question.

For some reason, I forgot they had Disney songs in that special too. Cinderella’s “Once Upon A Dream” was definitely there, and I think Lady & The Tramp were in it but I don’t remember which song (maybe the movie’s own “Bella Notte”?)

So we’ve got

Teddy Bear
Mickey
Don’t Go Breaking My Heart
Once Upon A Dream

I don’t specifically remember Muskrat Love or Let’s Hear It For The Boy being there, and I’m not certain about Bella Notte either (even though I suggested it), but if anyone can post a “hey! I remember it too!” then I’ll add them to the list also. Thanks gang!

I remember hearing “Owner of a Lonely Heart” for the first time through this program.

The Disney channel still airs these after midnight on weeknights. Or at least it did when I had the Disney channel last year.

Yeah, I remember seeing that on late at night on the Disney Channel, within the last few months or so. I saw one where Ludwig Von Drake sang about the various colors of the rainbow, because it was aired when color TVs were first introduced. I was born long after that (1987), so I found it amusing. (“Of course, if you haven’t bought a color televsion set, then you’ll still see this in black and white!”) At one point he held up a steak, and said, “You know, dogs see in black and white. They don’t care if this steak is black and white, red, green, plaid…” (it changed colors as he spoke). I don’t remember much else, because it was after midnight, and I was falling asleep. Aside from emailing Disney, you could try checking their website, but that would likely be equally futile.

Someone IRL also remembers that “Heart of Rock And Roll” was a part of the special. Cool.

You might look for a series of Disney videos called “Sing-Along Songs” - my daughter was a big fan and we used to rent them all the time. This sounds like it might be one of the series.
