Disney's Hunchback DVD

Eutychus, or any other Disney fan, I have a query…

I just got the Hunchback of Notre Dame DVD. Now this movie is far from Disney’s finest hour (or 90 minutes) but I still enjoy it, the music is especially impressive, and the animation is top notch, no question.

I had the VHS when it frist got released, but have only watched it maybe twice. Before that I had seen it in a theatre, of course. So tonight’s viewing was the first time in a long while.

It seemed to me that there were extended scenes this time! Am I right? Most notably was the full version of Frollo’s song ‘Hellfire’, but I thought that Phoebus and Esmerelda’s first kiss scene was also more than I’d seen before.

Can anyone confirm this?

I’m going to go searching around to see if there’s any suggestion of this anywhere.

Are there any scenes with Esmeralda naked? That’s the only way I’D ever watch that piece of crap again.

HUNCHBACK…just a little worse that HERCULES, but not quite as bad as POCAHONTAS. IMHO.

I’m with Ike. It’s no irony that this thread title appears right after “Worst butchery in turning a book into a movie.” I didn’t even bother going to see the movie and will probably only buy the DVD because I’m obsessive more than any other reason.

But … the DVD isn’t out here in the states yet and isn’t scheduled to be released until 2002, along with (yes, it’s true) “The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2.” But as far as I know, nothing new has been added to the video release.

KILL!

Yes, well, it’s true that the story is an abomination and the stupid annoying sidekicks are an all-time low. I do not deny that. But as an animation fan I can’t fault it there, and seriously, the music is fantastic. I’m surprised if you haven’t at least seen it once.

Oh well. Just more proof I’m a bit odd.
