DIY Art

Figured I should take this to a new thread since it’s not only an egregious hijack (something I’ve never had a problem with) but one of an active, non-silly, thread (okay, maybe I shouldn’t do that).

As I have mentioned before, I am a drafter and have done CAD for most of the past 20 years. My company wants to be able to give our customers renderings of their home theaters. CAD renderings are too mechanical for my boss’ tastes so I’m in a color rendering class. The whole markers and colored pencils thing. It’s so COOL! I’d always wanted to do something like that, in the nether region between uncreative drafting (which I’m good at) and creative drawing (which I’m not). And I was scared before the class started that I wouldn’t be able to hack it, but the teacher not only reminds me of Jodie Foster but is also interested in our success so she is actually TEACHING us, including techniques and ways to speed the process (what you can leave off).

What is your (visual) artform? Do you prefer working on paper/canvas/computer screen/whatever?
