FUCK Goddamn Illustrator!

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK.

I have homework due on Thursday - five drawings, inked in Illustrator and colored in Photoshop. I got three of them inked this weekend. I go to open one to make some modifications and get FUCKING ‘Can’t open illustration, ID = -50’ and half the drawing is gone. I check the other two, same deal.

And it’s all the HARD parts too. Not the FUCKING background, oh NOOOO, that’d make my life too easy.

I feel sick.

Wow, that sucks. I’ve never had that error in Illustrator. Can you open the files in Photoshop?

Look here maybe for help. Apparently, it’s possible it may open in CS. Perhaps there’s a chance it’ll open in CS3 (if you’re using CS2.) I do happen to have a copy of CS3 here, so I’d be able to look at it, but I suspect it may be quite a large file.

I found a possible fix. If I open it in an older version, which I have at work and resave, it SHOULD fix it. Pray for me.* Seriously, I feel like I could hurl. Updates tomorrow. Right now I should work on the other ones.

*I don’t believe but I support your right to. And I could use the good thoughts.

More info on the how and why of this error.

Silver, check your PMs. I have CS and I’d be willing to try and fix your files, if they’re small enough that you can e-mail them.

Thanks for the support everybody.

I’ve checked the files in Photoshop and all the info is there. I’ll resave them at work and I can finish them up in time.

Unless I procrastinate too much.

According to the site above, (pressure sensitive tablet + brush stroke) + scissors tool = error.

So, if you’re using a tablet, avoid scissors!
