I think it’s great that Arcane Library, and other indie publishers, are doing well. Kudos to them. It’s not for me, and I have read the free rules of Shadowdark. I’m sure with a DM I know and trust it would be great. It’s not something I would want to use for a campaign I run.

Hasbro has ceased development on its fledgling VTT product Sigil, which was sort of a 3D virtual tabletop with miniatures and D&D Beyond integration. Most of the development team was laid off, what product they have will be added to DDB and they don’t plan to add anything else to it. Doesn’t make any difference to me but I’m guessing the people at Roll20 and other VTTs are happy to hear it.

I watched this video while I was working today and it all went in one ear and out the other. What was the main thrust of the video?
An important part of the game is that the players should be able to outsmart the DM. I played one game where the easy solution was to swim to an island to get an artifact. Problem was it was acid not water. But wait, my character is immune to acid so I hop in and guess what, it’s not acid, it is some sort of destructo-water that causes damage to me.
As a counterpoint to that, one game we each had a talisman that would grant us one wish. So we are on a train and a carful of gold is going to the Big Baddy to complete his project of evil. We have to fight through the entire train and unhook the gold-car before it gets to the station. This is going to be tough. I wish all of the gold to go to my secret cave hideout. Boom, mission accomplished.
The main thrust of the video is that they found no way to make video game money off Sigil, so would rather get rid of it sooner rather than later.
A friend got into the Beta a month ago and gave the group keys. It was awful. If I am making a map to use, I have to place everything by hand, tile by tile. WTF? I can’t even pick a generic tile type (grass, stone, wood), draw a square, and fill that area with that type. I have to place them tile by tile. Not going to happen. Further, it had some higher than average requirements that if one player didn’t have, it can’t be used.

I’m annoyed because I got 2d dungeon tiles to make a dungeon for my VTT games and I want 5x5, 7x7, 11x11 ones that fit together and I can make little dungeon areas. Instead, they were 1x1. I have to make the entire dungeon a tile at a time. I’m doing something with Tiled to try and make my bigger tiles but it’s a slow process to get one extra style. Of course, I don’t find a bunch of options out there for VTT. Heroic Maps has some, so does The Dungeon Archive, with an auto creator for Foundry.

You can’t trust that youtuber- he has been caught making up shit to get clicks, and has turned his channel into a Hater channel.
The truth was- they couldnt get the technology to work like they wanted, so they dumped it. This happens, and is no big deal.

Cite? There’s certainly been plenty of legitimate reasons to “hate” WotC/DnDBeyond the last couple of years. Glancing at his video feed he definitely seems to be playing to the algorithm, but so do most popular youtubers if they want to make any money off it. Is he actually making things up, or just focusing on the (real) negative stories?
And name a few? OGL? Totally bogus. The thing about the guy getting ahold of preview cards? More bullshit.
But all that aside, he makes his click thru WotC hate.
I listened to that and it’s worse than anything Glicker has done because Glicker does have numbers he shares. I shared my thoughts on that video because that YouTuber commits every issue he blames the others for, with less numbers.
Does PDM have clickbait frames? YES! I don’t think the videos themselves are any worse than anything else. PDM has said repeatedly he is told to do painting tutorials, tips, and reviews. When he does those, they under perform by three to one for his clickbait videos. I can’t blame a YouTuber for knowing how to game the algorithm.

I think anyone that uses Scott Garibay to prove his point needs to find another source. If that is what @Stranger_On_A_Train is saying, my apologies.
I replied to SGs video that was posted and we had a decent conversation. I looked up his other videos and he thinks that Critical Role was rude to Orion Acaba. WTF? Orion was a complete jerk on CR, in character and out. Even I was embarrassed by some of his comments. I was also pissed by some of his in game character actions. I think he was about to say that Orion was canceled and I couldn’t watch more.
My apologies if that is inappropriate for the board.
