I think adult men can be attracted to girls in their mid teens because all men (myself included) were teenagers at some point. Our personal identities are an odd mix of all of our past experiences, so (even though I’m only in my early 20s) it’s not difficult to feel attraction to someone that isn’t your own age.
I would say that conversely younger men are not usually attracted to women in their late 50s or 60s and yet plenty of married men in their 50s and 60s and even older are still attracted to their spouses. I think it’s possible to feel attraction to anyone within a region around your current age and any age at which you were physically interested in the opposite sex, which usually starts in mid-ish teens for men.
I want to make it clear that I don’t think this explains pedophilia.
I was talking to a older female friend of mine about how men have to be careful about certain things. She has a very attractive daughter and invited me over right when her and her friends were coming back from the pool. I just looked at them long enough to notice the were all clad, and kept my eyes GLUED to the TV.
When I uncomfortably told her the how ‘safe’ I was trying to be around her daughter and her friends, she openly admitted to me that she finds guys her daughter’s age tantalizing.
Really? I did not know that. She does not look like a teenager, there, to me. I checked Wikipedia, it says that song came out in 1999 (when Britney was 19), and I assumed that that was her age in the video.
I respect the beauty of a youthful woman, but don’t think about it in a sexual way, (knowing a girl is too young… sometimes it’s difficult to tell). They do bring back youthful feelings, but I don’t even consider thinking about them in a sexual way.
I might be different than most.
My friend’s daughter that I brought up in my last post, wouldn’t even be on my radar. Her friends, on the other hand… well, I don’t know them. Beauty can be striking. So the TV was my go-to.
Edit. When I say “sexual way”… I mean, I don’t picture sexual activity.
Check again. From that same source the single (not the album) was released 23 Oct 1998, the video filmed August of that year and Brit was born 2 Dec 1981.
Speaking of that song, my sister’s youngest daughter turned 13 when that song was out and she had a birthday party attended by fifteen or twenty kids of the same age. They were playing lots of music and when Britney’s song came on, instead of singing “Hit me baby one more time” the girls would all sing “Make my boobies one more size!”
Not sure which came first. The birthday party would have been in the spring of ‘99. Could be the parody grew from from a line the kids came up with themselves. Either way, the parody’s fun. The singer really nailed Spears’ vocal…techniques?
I note also that the producers of Spears’ original video may have intentionally tried to make her look older in order to create a sexier video. The album cover photo presents a more accurate idea of her age at the time.
Yes – she was deliberately tarted up for the video and kept nice and sweet for the album cover. Because that’s what you do, or something.
As to the enhancement issue, as I recall events at the time, and looking up some references, apparently it was a running rumor *already *in Spring 1999, while HMBOMT was at peak popularity, due to some live appearances where the tabs pointed out the young lady seemed to be looking quite a bit, um, healthier than just the previous Fall.
The breast enlargement was part of what I was thinking of when I posted that video. If she had them grow naturally then she is the definition of pubescent. I think both of Britney’s first two singles came out before her 18th birthday. They were great watching on mute when I was in high school.
For done reason this reminded me of a conversation I had with a could of guys. I was the youngest in my mid twenties and the oldest was in his 40s.
The older guy lived behind a middle school of seventh and eighth graders. The kids would sneak back there to smoke and he said something like “if they smoke, they poke.”
You never heard anyone get shut up so quickly. I don’t think the guy was serious but guys just don’t joke about that. At least in my experience.
There is a type of joke or phrase along those lines that 9 heard when I was a teen. They basically are permutations of “old enough to bleed old enough to breed.” Yes they are crass like dead baby jokes kids used to tell. You can google many more.
