Do any of you pay attention to Google's text ads?

Google’s text ads are a popular feature on many pages because they don’t blink and flash and make noises, and they are fast loading.

But to me they are ugly and indistinguishable from each other so I almost totally tune them out, apart from expressing my minor disgust on how ugly they are and how it mars a perfectly nice webpage. Plus they seem to have a huge chunk of unused whitespace.

I know they’re cleverly targeted, which is a good thing in ads which I support, but they are so dull and bland I don’t click on them ever.

Do any of you click on them or pay any attention to them at all?

I do. I hardly ever click on the flashy, animated, much-more-noticeable ones, mainly because they’re never linked to anything I want. With google ads it’s different, they tend to be relevant to whatever I’m searching for (both at google.com and at whatever site I arrived at).
I think I’ve clicked on more google ads last week than in the other ones in all of 2004 . Maybe. I’m not much of a clicker anyway.

no, don’t respond to them, in fact, if there’s an option to turn them off, i select it, i hate adverts of any kind, if i want to make a purchase, i’ll research it myself, no ad’s gonna’ entice me

I’ve taught myself not to see ads.

I do sometimes. Usually if they are relevant. And of course, its non-intrusive, so I am more willing to click on the links.

What Keapon Laffin said.

I have before.

Sometimes, I’m trying to find a particular product online. If Google’s search doesn’t return satisfactory results, then I scan the ads. Often, there is something of use there.

Normally I ignore them, as I ignore most ads when I can. But Google ads are the only ads I’ve ever deliberately clicked on.
