So have you ever clicked on the google ads?

Gee whiz, there’s a lot of screamin’ and shoutin’ goin’ on about those little ads at the bottom of the threads.
Personally, I just ignore 'em. You don’t even know they are there if you don’t scroll down beyond the last post in a thread, and even then, they are pretty inconspicuous–no bold colors or graphics, nothing to draw my attention.

And in any case, I will never click on them, and I find it hard to believe that many other dopers will either.
I read this message board for fun, to relax, and maybe learn something while I’m along for the ride.

If I want to read ads, I’ll go to a commercial site,— but not when I’m reading the Sdope.
So how many click-counts is google racking up on those ads? And won’t the advertisers eventually find that it’s a waste of money?

Click them? I can’t even see them.

Yay Firefox.

The only problem is since I installed the blocking software, I can no longer click on the smiles.

I click on the ones that look interesting.

Yup, me too.

I clicked on one, and got a great recipe for Pumpkin Soup with Goat Cheese Mousse. I have the ingredients, I’ll let you know how it turns out.

They aren’t usually advertising anything I’d be interested in, so no, I don’t click them. I’m not saying I never would, though. Some people are against them on principle and have sworn never to click, but since I sometimes click ads on other sites, why not here, if they have something to offer?

I do think it’s strange and a little annoying to have ads on a site we’re paying for, but everything has ads these days, so I’ll live with it.

I’ve never clicked on one, although that doesn’t rule it out. If I were to see one that caught my eye (and normally I don’t even look at them) I might click on it. I’ve yet to see one that interests me though.

I NEVER click on them.

First of all. I can’t see them here.

But, I don’t click on them at gmail, or at google maps, or on my personalized google home page. I don’t click on any of them ever. I don’t even notice them.

That’s why google puzzles me. Their stock, and their estimated earnings are very high right now. But, it seems like all the revenue for the company is based on people clicking on ads. Weren’t there dot coms who crashed because that was their entire business model.

Well, one day, I think, these companies are going to realize that people don’t click. Or they click and don’t buy. I simply can’t believe that a company without a real product to sell is going to make the money that some people think Google is going to make.

I don’t click, mostly because all I’ve seen are ads for things one would purchase. Since I’m not likely to purchase anything it’s pointless.

But I do like to see what kinds of ads we come up with these days so I look at them. They really don’t bother me at all.

I have Adblock installed, and never see them here, or anywhere else. I block all ads, flash items and cookes from sites I visit, unless cookies are required. I go in daily and block cookies that snuck in the back door. I have never clicked on an ad on the internet, and never will.
