Do black people ever refer to Brazil nuts as “niggertoes”? Where I come from, pretty much all of the (white) people call them that.
I’m not asking how that particular not got that nickname; it’s quite obvious (not that I’m okay with it). Do black people and white people living in the same areas call the same objects the same things? Any other examples?
Whoops. Of course they do. An apple is an apple is an apple. What I mean was, are there any other objects with racial nicknames that are referred to by that nickname by both black and white people.
When I was a kid my (white) family would always call them niggertoes. Fortunately I shed that habit, but many years later at her place of work, my Mom was offered a Brazil nut, and right in front of her black coworker said “Sure! I love niggertoes!”
I thought the coworker should have brought in peanuts the next day and said something like “anybody want some of these honkeydicks with me?”
Doesn’t even come close to answering the OP, but I’d thought I’d share.
I don’t understand how they got the nickname(?) The only Brazil nuts I’ve ever seen are white or very very pale yellow. And calling peanuts honkeydicks is hilarious on so many levels, btw
I remember in grade school music class learning about songs from the Civil War; the teacher played this record that had a rendition of “Eatin’ goober peas…” on it, and couldn’t figure out why all the little boys were giggling. Anybody out there ever heard goober as slang for penis? I haven’t in a long, long time…
