Do comic book character costumes look ridiculous in real life?

They’re both based on Greek and Roman military gear. I don’t see why it would be a homage to Xenia, or why you would have to make an effort to be nice.

More specifically, they’re both based on Greco-Roman military gear, as modified to fit and look good on a curvy woman. Given both of those points, of course they’re going to end up looking similar.

There’s also some oddity introduced by the passage of time. The combination of briefs over tights that Superman and Batman wear, while hardly mainstream, reputedly would have been recognizable in the 1930s as something a wrestler or circus strongman might wear. That cultural referent has been lost.

That’s why the sequel will feature Negative Wonder Woman.
