Here's what Ryan Reynolds looks like as the Green Lantern

Color me impressed!

I’m usually pretty forgiving of movie outfits, but I couldn’t like that less. The glowy bioorganic thing just doesn’t work for me, and something about the mask really looks off.

Then again, I think the perfect GL movie would be to simply take the first five or six issues of Silver Age GL and film them VERBATIM as absurdist action comedy, so I’m probably in the minority.

That’s fucking terrible.

Just kinda supports my theory that they’ve pretty much tapped all of the super-heroes that can make it to live-action without being some combination of campy and cheesy. I’m not sure why Batman or Ironman or Wolverine seem to work while I really can’t picture a successful Thor or Green Lantern movie, but there you go. I think the publics gonna get sick of the next crop of comic-book inspired films pretty fast.

That’s a CGI suit, right? It’s just mapped on and he’s wearing a skin tight suit for them to map it on there.

Is Green Lantern’s costume supposed to be a direct manifestation of his powers, rather than just ordinary (or extraordinary) cloth?

I still think Reynolds is more like Deadpool than Green Lantern.

Shame they killed Deadpool in that weird Wolverine movie. I know, they still thought about making the movie, but I doubt he’ll be both Green Lantern and Deadpool.

Does anyone else think his head looks like it was carved from a sponge? Just me?

Really not liking it.

edit: nothing to see here; nevermind

It makes him look like he’s been flayed and dipped in radioactive waste. Not a good look.

Yes.

Last I heard, the Deadpool movie is still a go and…

his “death” at the end of X-Men Origins: Wolverine will restore him to his previous wise-cracking ways and allow him to break the fourth wall

Reading these posts reminds me that Comic Book Guy is, in fact, not an exaggeration.

It’s not our fault it sucks.

For comparison, here’s a piece of fanart of Reynolds in a Green Lantern costume that does not suck: link.

still looks goofy (and the segmented thorax makes him look like a lobster). I think its the mask more then the suit.

Are you joking? That looks like a leftover costume from some long-forgotten Power Rangers spinoff. At least the image on the EW cover looks interesting.

Well, comparatively speaking. It at least looks like he’s wearing clothes that wouldn’t get him arrested for indecent exposure.

Too bad those contact lenses weren’t available for the Annie movie.

I like it. I’d have preferred a mix of green and black, but I like the textured look. Not wild about the mask shape, but the eyes are cool. Although - does his *hair *look green to anyone else?
