I like the little variations on the costume.
I like the little variations on the costume.
I don’t. It’s too plasticy, the visible seams are distracting, I don’t like the S looking like it’s glued on, the boots look like wellingtons almost and the neck is too high.
Also the shorts look off – I think it’s because they’re too low cut. They really DO look like underpants worn on the wrong side rather than shorts.
I much prefer the 1978 costume.
I hope this doesn’t sound too annoyed comic book guyey. I liked the movie Spiderman costume and loved the movie Daredevil costume!
Here’s the best pic I could find of the 1978 costume (filled out by Chris Reeve of course!) http://www.chrisreevehomepage.com/images/superman/s1pose4.jpg
I just think that the Superman costume is so well known, and impossible to make even slightly realistic that redoing the way they’ve done for the new movie isn’t a good idea.
The 1978 costume looks like Superman’s costume. The new one looks like he’s wearing a Superman wetsuit.
And as usually kiddies, the AICN talkbacks aren’t worth crap. Apparently this costume is too gay. Unlike the traditional garishly colored ball-hugging ensemble.
That said, I’m not so sure I like it myself. But I’ve seen worse.
I must be getting too old, because Superman is starting to look like a kid to me.
I don’t want to talk about it.
sits in a corner and mutters angrily
At least it’s a more-or-less traditional circus gymnast-type costume … They could have gone the X-Men route and traded it in for more skin-tight black leather, which, as everyone knows, is impossible to sit down in, much less fight crime.
All this negativity… feh. I think it’s neat - it’s the traditional Superman uniform, with a few subtle updates that look to be inspired by Spidey’s movie costume - plus that really swell new belt! That is an awesome belt.
You know I’m just angry it’s not Tom Welling. They’ll get my money, and I’ll probably see it more than once. le sigh
I like the cut and fit, but the red parts look too dark. Maybe that’s a photographic or .jpg effect, and in the movie it will be the proper shade of red? I hope so.
Otherwise it looks good, and Brandon Routh has the right look.
If they’d hired Tom Welling, Draelin, I’d have been unable to see him as “Superman” and not “Angsty-teenager-man.”
But I really like to look at him.
Perhaps my inner vision of Superman is influenced by Chris Reeve, but Tom Welling’s mouth is just wrong for the adult Man of Steel, for my money. It’s… too big.
Also, his face is a little too short - though maybe it’s just his haircut that makes it appear that way.
I like everything but the fact that the chest symbol is way too small. And Silentgoldfish is right, it looks glued on. Otherwise, pretty spiffy.
Not sure about the actor. I guess face-wise he has the right look, but somebody pass him some lasangna before we lose him. Oh well, I pretty much gave up long ago on ever getting an actor in the role who’s as buff as Superman should be. Don’t know why that is…I have to believe there are bodybuilding actors out there somewhere.
I don’t love the costume but I’m sure it will grow on me with time. No, my problem is that the guy just does not scream Superman to me. But then again he might grow on me too.
I would say it looks okay, except that the collar is too high, the boots are awful and I am not a fan of the glued on looking ‘S’.
But really nothing that’s too bad.
Costume’s fine, but the hair looks alittle mulletty.
Maybe this’ll be his first costume before he develops the “real” one, like Spidey did in the first movie. Remember how lame his costume looked when he was wrestling?
However bad it might be (and it doesn’t seem bad to me, personally), it’s nowhere near the badness of the rubber monstrosities in the Batman movies.
Isn’t the ‘S’ too small?
I love it. I think it’s great! I want to lift his suit up right above his little belt and just nibble his belly skin. mmmmmm
