This. And, for a little while he was rather close to legitimately collaborating (musically) with the great, creative Beach Boys.
Generally speaking, “sociopath” or “psychopath” (if there is even a distinction) does not address what one is capable of or inclined toward. It simply describes an empathy deficiency. The -opath can do stuff and not feel at all sad or guilty about hurting others. In some cases, I think, it can extend to a desire to hurt others, but that is not specifically part of the -opathy pathology.
George Will also comments on the man “incapable of sequential thought.”
I forget — Is George Will some liberal who also hated on the Bushies?
You know how some Spanish-speaking cultures employ a trailing matronymic: a second surname for mom? Like “Raúl Castro Ruiz”. Well, it appears that this guy’s second surname is Regret. He concedes when he was wrong. Somewhat often. But he seems to have a learning disability.
I’d say they’re quite similar. Both have a cult of devoted followers who believe every syllable that they say. Both speak rather incoherently, the only area in which Manson is the worse of the two. Both are incapable of admitting error or taking the slightest bit of responsibility. Both think they are above the law.
But of the two, Manson is an amateur. Sure, he made a number of people die if not by his own hand, then that of his followers. But to spread misery on an industrial scale, you need political power. You need to botch hurricane relief to a group of people because you detest their ethnicity. You need to put infants in cages and children in concentration camps. You need to take health care away from people and let them die, simply because they had previously been helped by a black man. You need to rattle a nuclear saber and suck up to despots. No, Manson does not come close to T***p in terms of the magnitude and scope of his evil.
Charlie had better hair
I’m bumping this thread, despite that there’s no connection to Mr. Manson, because the thread is about Trump’s diction and what it tells us about him.
I found the sing-song in Trump’s Rose Garden address odd. Do other Commanders-in-Chief speak this way?
Now that it’s bumped, I’d just like to point out that Charles Manson never personally murdered anyone. Let’s not libel the guy, after all.
Correction: Manson was never convicted of personally murdering someone. And if you believe he never did it, I believe he’ll succeed Trump into the Presidency.
I just reread Manson’s wiki page to double-check, and there’s no indication that he personally ever killed anyone, unless I’m wildly mistaken. He certainly directed others to kill, no question.
NO, they don’t - er, didn’t. Charlie was a straight-up sociopath. There’s a tendency to try to make him into a paranoid schizophrenic, but he really doesn’t fit the profile. People also want to call him a narcissist because of all the proclamations he’d make on camera, which people are sure in their own minds can’t be true…but happen to be truer than people care to admit. Remember, Charles is only directly involved with one murder, there is a possibility of a second. Charles was jailhouse mentality let loose in the suburbs. Talking a group of people into doing something can’t be seen as the same as doing it himself. As horrific as those murders were, trying to pin them on some outlandish personality, rather than the condition of the society itself has always been the kneejerk reaction. It’s bad, but not as bad as the Soviets not recognizing they had the serial killer Chikatilo. This isn’t Charles Manson.
Donald, on the other hand, is a narcissist. He was tossed out of rich kid’s school, and a multi-million dollar “donation” by his father didn’t get him back in. He was sent to “military school” a place in them days where they sent criminal-tending minors rather than jail. All the information on this is *shhhhh *secret. I’d really like to know what he did, and what any psych eval at the time came up with. Has this guy been on anti-psychotics since middle school? Is this why he doesn’t drink alcoholic beverages? When he roams aimlessly on the tarmac in front of Air Force 1, is this medication and fatigue why? We really should know. After all, he commands a thermonuclear arsenal.
Charles is habitually misdiagnosed. Don hasn’t *been *diagnosed…that we *know *of.
While Trump may have a narcissistic personality, he doesn’t suffer from NPD, because that requires he suffer significant distress or impairment. Yeah, I know, he certainly seems impaired, but not on the level required for diagnosis of a personality disorder.
Neat trick-Charlie died back in 2017.
That’s like saying someone is not on the autism spectrum because they learned coping mechanisms or have very accommodating people to help them. Symptom severity should be more important than absolute impairment.
No it’s not like that at all. Trump is on the narcissistic spectrum (like I said he has a narcissistic personality) but wouldn’t be diagnosed as having NPD by any non-ax-grinding psychiatrist.
