Do large breasts always hurt, or can some women carry them without problems?

My sincere apologies to all concerned for inadvertently trivializing another’s pain. It was very insensitive of me, and I do regret it :smack: Mea culpa

Just want to say that I’m surprised by the number of large (over DD) breasted individuals here on the Dope. Do you think they are overrepresented here? If so, any clue why?

Selection bias. Smaller-breasted women aren’t responding in this thread, so there’s no indication of what their (relative) numbers might be.

Overrepresented here as opposed to other internet message boards? I would guess there are tons of big titty mamas on the dope, and any other message board. America has an obesity issue, surfing the web all day isn’t exactly the most physically healthy thing…so I am not surprised that lots of large women would be on the dope, and that lots of large women have bigger titties.

All of that said, I really only consider a women really stacked if her breasts are much larger than her waistline or belly or whatever. But that is just my own yardstick.

ETA: And also, duh; what twickster said.

Once more with feeling: cup size does not represent a specific size of breast. A 30DD is the same sized boob in objective terms as a 34C, or 36B.

I’ve had the rash on hot and sweaty days. One day a cold front blows through and we have dry, sunny weather, in the high 70’s. The rash miraculously disappears, I swear. A week later, it gets hot and muggy again, and the rash is back. I never have it except in the summer. I think a fungal infection would be more tenacious.

Explanation and video here Bra Size Guide: How to Find Your Bra Size. Interesting I never knew that’s how it was determined.

Would weight lifting to strengthen the back help?
Though I guess a lot of the responses of mild to nonexistent pain would make it not worth it in that sense.

I did. The rash *was *a fungal infection, and it cleared up within days. Ahhh, the relief! Of course, if I didn’t have uniboobs I wouldn’t have got a fungal infection in the first place.

And speaking of uniboobs, am I the only one that hate not having some breathing space between breasts? It’s madness when it’s hot, which is 99% of the time where I live.

I have to bend over to see my feet!

Also big boobies make you look fatter. And no clothes fit me well. What fits me in the breasts sag somewhere, or it’s too long, or both. And buying bras suck, specially if you want to find something not straight out of grandma’s closet.
My dislike of my boobies have got to a point where I envy my flat-chested 4 year old daughter. :frowning:

I used to do weight training, and started doing it again. It didn’t help much then and hasn’t helped much now. Plus pain is just a small part of my discomfort.

Haa! I agree, but I think it does that in a good way!

Oh, this! I started developing when I was ten, and I distinctly remember kicking myself at that age for not realizing that I should have been savoring my flat-chested years.

When I was in high school, I was extremely self-conscious about my chest (having a mother who refused to buy me properly sized bras because anything over a B-cup was slutty was a real bitch). I remember watching my male history teacher one day as he was lecturing and absent-mindedly scratching his chest, and thinking, “Imagine being able to touch yourself like that without anything getting in the way and without anyone thinking you were a slut whore for putting your hand on your chest in public.” I wanted to cry with frustration.

Now my self-image is much better and I wear the right size and my chest doesn’t give me any pain except when I try to jog in a regular bra. :smack:

Except, with all due respect, it’s not. A 30DD is a breast that is large in comparison to the body it’s on. A 34C is a normal, typical size for a curvy woman.

The fact that a woman who should be wearing a 30DD can also wear a 34C doesn’t mean she should. The 34C won’t fit right. The band will be loose yet she’ll spill out of the cups. There won’t be any support at all and the straps will fall off her shoulders, over and over.

I’m 38DDD and what I mostly get is back pain.

It’s also a pain to buy any swimsuit. I really envy anyone who can wear a bikini.

40G, and yeah I have back pain. I don’t think all of it’s from the damn boobs, but they sure don’t help. My whole upper back, neck, and shoulders have really severe and recurring misalignments–the spinal column between the nape of my neck and just below my bra strap is scalloped.

Agreed. I posted upthread about how I had a late 20s growth spurt and was squeezing myself into bras that left the sides of my breasts bruised and with spending the whole day trying to pull my bra up and feeling it slip around-I was a 34C for a really long time-like since the age of 11. The volume of the D/DD cups, even in smaller bust sizes (like 30/32), is bigger than the cups of 34C size. However, it isn’t significantly bigger, which is why so many people are randomly stuffed into sizes that are not at all appropriate.

I am a 38DDD who has never had back pain.

That said, there are numerous drawbacks to having enormous breasts, such as never being able to find any clothes or bras or swimsuits that fit, having difficulty with high-impact activities such as running, and, of course, fielding the inappropriate comments in grade school. They hurt when I’m PMSing, and I’m sure women with small breasts have breast pain too, but they are harder to protect being as large as they are. I also think that women with large breasts are generally perceived as more overweight than they actually are, because tops have to be disproportionate to bottoms (in most cases) creating a kind of optical illusion. I am a 6-8 but I think most 6-8s with smaller breasts look tiny compared to me.

There is a magical sports bra that changed my life. It is called Enell. They are expensive but they last forever (going on three years and still good as new) and are so completely worth it I can’t recommend them enough. If they don’t have your size, they will make them custom. They also have a minimizing effect under clothes, which I greatly appreciate.

(Link to a bra website, possibly NSFW as it features pictures of women in bras.)

I refuse to wear anything else, and have the Lites for everyday wear (though they are almost as good for high impact as the standard.)

I may check that out. I spent my high school sports career in two bras and an ace bandage.

I wear a 36FF, getting a properly fitted bra made a huge difference in back/shoulder pain. (I was well into adulthood by this point), though I have big shoulders and muscular back, and I always carried it easier than my 32E small framed mother.

I just assumed that was an obvious feature of having big boobs. If I don’t bend at the waist, I can’t see anything beyond my boobs.

There’s a reason why I tend toward tank tops and things that are more fitted or in the knit range-- I want to not look like an enormously fat person when I’m not that fat. I have big boobs and a bit more stomach than necessary, and recently got confused for being pregnant at the store buying dog food; must have been the dress that didn’t emphasize much beyond “I have curves and extra tummy”. Yikes!

I have never needed anywhere near that much support, but I lucked out in the boobs department-- I didn’t start having anything above a B cup until the 8th grade, where I went from a B to a D within a matter of six months. Since then, I’ve wavered between D and DD and 36 and 38 as band sizes. I never really had much of an issue in sports, but for a long time, I was wearing the kind of sports bras that close in the back like a bra and are almost as supportive as the Enell line; however, I haven’t needed that much support since I started losing weight and toning up. It’s a strange quirk that I hope lasts at least a few years longer.

Yes.

Last time I purchased a two-piece swim suit, I bought the bottom at the store, and they had to order the top from some warehouse where they store apparel for freak shows. Way to not make me feel weird, Everything But Water. As for exercise, the ladies are 98% of the reason I ride a bicycle instead of running. Well, that and I hate running. And oh yes, when it’s lady time, even the water beads against the boobs in the shower can be painful.

Now in answer to the OP, I don’t really have much to add. I’ve been having back pain since before I had Pattie and Selma arrived, so it’s hard for me to tell what part of the pain (if any) is boob-induced, and what part is from me having a screwed up back in general.
