I, too, associate it more with the 70s than the 90s.
Could those of you who remember it from Seinfeld do us a hard stool sample and remind us of which episode it’s from?
My kids picked it up from Regular Show as well (the episode was even titled “Do Me A Solid”). Regular Show has a whole 80s/early 90s vibe to it anyway despite taking place in “The Present” (most of the licensed music is from the 80s; although they have the internet and cell phones, the characters spend a lot of time watching VHS tapes and playing 8-bit video games and arcade cabinet games). Prior to that episode, I hadn’t heard anyone say it since about 1992.
Kramer: Hey Jerry, can you do me a solid?
Jerry: What kind of solid? [or something like that]
Kramer: I need you to sit in my car while I’m double parked. I have to pick up some birds!
On a similar note, have you heard anyone besides Winnebago Man say, “Would you do me a kindness” ?

No it was actually the one where Jerry and George ate dinner with Elaine’s dad and Jerry had to turn his suede jacket inside out because it was snowing. Kramer was picking up some birds from a magician friend of his who was out of town.

My cousins and I use it - to signify a really big “only because you are family” kind of a favor. Obviously, it doesn’t come up often, but yeah. They are from Detroit, could be a local thing. I use it with other people, and they always know what it means, but I’ve never heard anyone from DC Metro use it spontaneously.
It’s Regular Show. There’s an entire episode that revolves around Rigby forcing Mordecai to do him an increasingly extreme series of solids.
Of course, Regular Show has a strong 90’s slacker vibe to it, so it’s entirely appropriate that they’d build an entire show around a retro expression.
Am I the only one who thinks this is an early 70’s retro? Somebody mentioned “Mod Squad” - I’m thinking “Sanford and Son.”
Yeah, I’ve heard it and continue to hear it. Not anywhere near as often as ‘do me a favor’ but often enough. Mostly my older relatives.

I say it, but more often when describing a favor someone did me than ehen asking for a favor. I think it’s my way of conveying my gratitude (“Suzie did me a serious solid when I forgot my wallet and couldn’t cover lunch”)
I often hear it referring to someone else - “He was trying to do you a solid and you just blew him off.”
