Do Moderators Keep a list of Doper Warnings?

 Thanks, Frank. Though I think you just opened a can of worms.

As a proof of the moderators’ mercifully short memories, I too was wondering what xash’s warning would turn out to be. Huh.

Permanent files?

Shit.

Well, just in case they have a file on me I’m sending them this:

I have reason to believe a software malfunction has caused a small error to appear on my file.

Please make the following amendment at your earliest convenience:

Many thanks.

That should do the trick.

Dear Your Majesty/Lord/Lady/Sir/Dame/Mr./Mrs./Miss/Ms. [strike out as appropriate] [enter name here]

In response to your letter/fax/email/half-brick with note tied on [strike out as appropriate] of [enter date here], we have investigated.

The results of our investigation show that the disputed comment “This poster is a complete asshole and needs to be watched like a hawk.” is, in fact, engraved on the right-hand side of a pair of stone tablets and actually begins with the letters “XI”.

We regret/are sorry to inform you/couldn’t care less [strike out as appropriate] that we are unable to accede to your request/demand/spittle-flecked hysterical fit [strike out as appropriate].

Should this office be able to assist you in any further manner, please feel free to write again/phone us/fuck off and die [strike out as appropriate].

Sincerely yours,

The Ministry of Truth has determined that you are an unperson.

Everybody else, the Ministry of Love invites you to Hate Week celebrations. Do not doublepost.

pssst
Frank!
You forgot "
[strike out as appropriate]"

You know Frank, I’d love to respond to your post in a like manner but, in a delicious irony, my reply would almost certainly merit a warning.

The key-word here is Truth. Like so many Moderator words, this word has two mutually contradictory meanings. Applied to a poster, it means the habit of impudently claiming that Truth is Lies, in contradiction of the plain facts.

I would have thought that there would have been something like the Spent Convictions Act, where after a time previous warnings were deleted.

Anyway, I am now happy I am on way to being a Mod

Generally, when we search for prior warnings, we limit the search to the last six months or last year, so we accomplish the same effect without the need for additional administrative busy-work.
