warnings - eventual expiry?

Couldn’t find in the rules anywhere about the expiry of a warning, especially a relatively innocuous one.

Or are they a permanent blemish that we must bear as a badge of abject shame and remorse?

Would like to find this out in the hope it can get lifted so I can go on a crazy threadshitting spree.

Warnings are a Mark of Shame on your Permanent Record. They don’t expire.

Warnings do not expire, however older warnings are given less weight when it comes to further action.

Sounds like a golf handicap, although your older scores do “expire”.

Be aware that they can’t be seen by anyone else but mods, and we only look at them in the case of a new offense.

Can posters see their own warnngs anywhere?

Yes, displayed in their usercp

It’s bullshit, is what it is. I had a sweet gig at another message board in the bag until they ran the background check.

Extreme vetting is a bitch!

Just curious … is threadshitting for the sake of threadshitting an offense that is immediately bannable for all, or is that applied only to me?

I don’t think one offense of threadshitting is immediately bannable if you have no previous warnings or suspensions, but it undoubtedly contributed to one recent banning.

Only you. You are currently the only poster who is on our list for immediate banning in the case of threadshitting. So watch your step.

But that was some Olympic-level threadshitting.

Yeah, but he had some other warnings and a suspension on his record, so that was strike three.

Ha ha ha ha … I see what you did there … very funny …

I’d say they do eventually expire, since mine only go back to 2009.

You’re also on our watchlist for excessive ellipses…

That’s when we initiated the automatic system that registers your infractions on your profile. Before that we compiled them manually. You actually have warnings back to 2004. And before that they may not have been consistently compiled.

Jokes aside, surely it’s silly to keep warnings on file for years and years? A five year old warning for a not particularly egregious remark made during a heated exchange really isn’t an indicator of anything.

Oh man. You’re one of the three funniest posters here.
