It’s just weird that you’d expect people to be all like, “OMG! I totally am glad the scenester won the tardfight!”
-
I don’t expect anything of anyone.
-
The word “tardfight” is a little juvenile and sort of insulting.
-
Walker is about the farthest thing from a “scenester” that I can imagine. You can’t put that kind of label on a guy like him. He is a passionate history scholar, and a classical music afficianado. He is also deeply into underground hip-hop, has participated in rap battles and is an amazing freestyler. He plays the upright bass in jazz groups, and hosts a comedy program on the student radio station at Oberlin. He’s not part of any one “scene.” He IS his own scene.
I can confirm this. Here’s a Magic strategy article that mentions the term “sausage fest”. The article was originally printed on the Dojo (which went out of business in 2000), and American Pie 2 didn’t come out until 2001. And who would be more familiar with the term than Magic players?
Argent, I agree that it sounds like Shorty was trying to pick a fight. I’m guessing that “sausage fest” is his “clever” way of calling you a bunch of fags but still maintaining that he wasn’t trying to insult you.
Does his uniform look like this?
Does he carry one of these?
Attention whore.
and I own one of those uniforms, and I was once a bohemian hipster who was his own scene. So I dig where he’s coming from, probubly better than you I dare say. If he were to look deep down into his motivation it would mst likely be a deep seated need to scream “Look at me!!!”
Trust me.
First: “sausage fest” undoubtedly refers to the fact that it was all men (Or mostly men). I have heard that term used for over 20 years now, and never once has it meant “Tight fitting trousers”.
Second: The whole OP is 100% attention whoring. Woo, look at me, I’m so cool because I’m not a frat boy! Even the title screams attention whore: "Do not wear jodphurs to a party filled with frat wannabes… " (unless you are totally awesome like my friend!) Or do you mean “Do not wear jodphurs to a party filled with a short frat wannabe with a Napoleon complex”?
Hmmm…lots of inconsistencies. Do not wear jodhpurs…on no wait, do wear them, I don’t care. Frat boys are judgmental…well actually it was just the one. My friend doesn’t care what people think of him…but he dresses like a total freak, especially when going to frat parties.
Well, it sounds to me like the short frat guy won. He successfully picked a fight and angered you.
(One other instance of an Argent Towers thread in which everyone sympathizes with the person he’s mad at: the one where the girl went to Italy and slept with Italians instead of his buddies.)
A hero of the Empire, spoken to in a manner so disrespectful by a scoundrel? He should have been flogged for insubordination, the cad!
Argent Towers, perhaps it’s just the circle you hang out with, but even with the meanest tone, calling something a ‘sausage fest’ is (just about) always a joke. I used to walk out into my ex’s living room- full of boys sitting around playing X-Box- and says, “Jesus H.! You guys have quite the sausage fest going on in here. Y’all want me to leave so you can get back to playing touch pee pee?” They’d laugh. (Ok, maybe they found humor in it because they were so stoned, but that’d beyond the point).
The point is, this is no different then when I call my friends “bitch” “slut” and “whore” (you know, like, “Sup, bitches?”). Ever seen Mean Girls? It’s just how us youngin’s speak to one another. Sure, it seems messed up to everyone else, but we all understand the context.
Perhaps you and your friends just read waaaaay too far into the sausage fest comment.
Then again, maybe this guy was just your typical frat-dude with Short Guy Syndrome- every school as a few. They are always loud and trying to get their way; honestly, I wouldn’t worry much about it.
And yeah, if your friend insists on standing out like that at a party, he certainly falls into the attention whore catagory. I really like military history, but you don’t see me showing up in full military regalia. Him wearing that uniform is no different than Maddison showing up in her too tight miniskirt, tube top, and fuck me pumps. (Of course, in the grand scheme of things, it really doesn’t matter if they want to dress like that. That said, they should be aware that they may get some unwanted attention for dressing in such a way).
Brilliant.
You should save this and read it again in five years.
Attention? Heavens, no. Had he wanted attention, he would have painted his nose blue and his ass red and dressed in nothing but a pair of chaps with a sign around his neck that said “BABOON.”
Actually, this thread explains that other one a little better - she decided to have sex with the Italian guy b/c he was the only one she knew that didn’t dress like an extra from The Bridge on the River Kwai.
He already had the sign that said “Baboon.”
Dude, I hang with folks that dress period for a lot of time, starting at Rev War and ening about 1944. They know when they are attention whoring, and so so do you and Walker.
My devout hope was this was gonna end with Joey screaming on the floor after “short dude” hit him in the nuts with a left hook, and followed up with a kick there as he grabbed them.
You invaded somebody else’s space, and tried to have the biggest dofus in the room intimidate him when the little guy called you on your bullshit. To bad the little guy wasn’t Steven Seagal. You could learn from an ass kicking.
Yeah, yeah, it was Walker who dressed odd. You were blameless. Yada, yada, yada. You could learn form getting your ass kicked now, before it’s too late. So could Walker and Joey.
Who the fuck is “you?” I didn’t invade anyone’s space. Who “tried to have the biggest dofus” do anything? You’re telling me that I should have my ass kicked, even though I didn’t do anything - very classy.
I guess I’m a sniveling, whining, little piece of shit. I guess my friends are all assholes. I’m wrong, you’re all right, I surrender.
Wait, so can someone explain this to me again? Argent Towers is mad because the Italian guys had sex with the fratboy instead of his Colonial pal?
Jesus, dude. Learn to tell fewer stories about your personal life. That, or tell a lot more of them - maybe you’ll end up getting a bit more of a clue if you have enough feedback from others.
This nailed it right here. Nobody else seems to understand. Either you get this or you don’t.
The guy who said “sausage fest” was trying to insult my friends and I. I can say this a million times and you apparently won’t believe me, giving him the benefit of the doubt even though I was there and witnessed it and you were not and didn’t. He was being a cocky, aggressive asshole, and my friend Joey wouldn’t have it, and he stood up to the guy. That’s all there is to it, and I’m sticking to my damn story here.
There are so many things to take into consideration when someone says something to someone else - body language, tone of voice, facial expression - and yet you are just fixating on the “sausage fest” term and its meaning, and not seeing how it could have been said in a rude, aggressive, challenging way. Well, it WAS, and if you don’t understand, then you don’t understand.
Nobody should have to take any kind of shit from anyone else sitting down, and my friend Joey didn’t, and I’m on his fucking side, and you’re never going to convince me not to be.
Sure. Deny the little guy a fair fight. You and your fucking cosplay asshole friend. I wonder what this thread would look like if you two were the short ones. Fucker.
He denied him nothing. Being short doesn’t mean you can’t kick the shit out of someone taller. Joey had a foot of height on the guy, but shorty probably had 20 pounds on Joey. Ask any wrestler (like myself) if you can’t lay out someone a foot taller than you.
“Fucker?” Classy. I haven’t resorted to calling any other posters here by insulting names, why do you have to?
Here’s one more thing I’m going to add for the benefit of anyone who doesn’t see how the phrase “sausage fest” or any other phrase could have been uttered in a mean and insulting fashion.
Consider the word “Buddy.” With a miniscule change in the tone of voice, it goes from being endearing (how are you, buddy?) to aggressive and demeaning (better watch yourself, buddy.)
Why the hell do I have to explain this concept to members of the most literate forum I’ve ever been on?
Sorry. I was joking around (thought you’d be able to tell by the selective quote.) You’re obviously taking this a lot more seriously than I am, so I’ll just shut up now.
