I’m asking for a friend.
Yes.
Fatty foods in general can cause diarrhea
Now, to give a bit more detail.
“Nuts” are a very huge category. The amount of and type of nut you eat will result in different reactions. However, nuts are typically very high fat and also contain fiber. Either one can trigger flatulence and/or diarrhea in susceptible people. Nuts are always on the list of things to avoid when someone is suffering from diarrhea for these reasons.
Thanks. I’ll remind my friend not to OD on the trail mix next time.
Oh, that kind of nuts.
No, women get diarrhea too.
Depending on what’s in the trail mix, it could’ve been dried fruit, too.

It was mostly nuts and dried fruit – they should have put a warning label on it!
They did here:
Do the proper American thing-sue the bastards!! Pain and suffering, or suffering ring, as the case my be. Embarrassment! Increase in water bill! Extra case of TP!
Lost wages! Scared cat!
MY friend gets the trots from nuts and dried fruit and fibroud fruits like citrus and raw leafy greens-- something about rough fiber. My poor friend.
More annoyed than scared – every time he got comfy, I – er, my friend – had to get up again.
Yanno, I’m not sure it’s in the best interests of the fruit and nut purveyors whose ads are popping in to be advertising in this particular thread…
The increased fiber could cause diarrhea, as noted. Also, the diarrhea could be caused by a mild food allergy/sensitivity. Perhaps you’re sensitive to something in the trail mix, but symptoms only appear if you consume a large enough quantity.
If you want to eat a lot of something that gives you diarrhea, just follow it with a bowl of cereal. Casein in milk is nature’s glue.
I’m not sure exactly what you mean by this, since you seem to equate glue with causing diarrhea, but it sure sounds to me like anti-milk propaganda nonsense. Casein is not “nature’s glue,” whatever that is; it’s merely a protein like any other. It does not cause diarrhea, except possibly for a tiny percent (and I mean way, way under 1%) of the population who have a hypersensitivity - not an allergy - to casein.
Lactose in milk can cause diarrhea in some people with lactose intolerance, but that’s an entirely different matter.
I took that to mean glue as in keeping the fecal matter together and preventing diarrhea, thus allowing one to eat “a lot of something that gives you diarrhea…” without suffering the actual diarrhea.
If anyone ever wanted to argue that all I post is shit, boy did I just offer a steaming pile of cite.
It’s quite possible he or she did mean that. It’s still nonsense, however.
My own experience has been the opposite. Overindulging in nuts gets me constipated. Also, according to accounts of the participants in the Dick Van Dyke Show episode, “It May Look Like A Walnut”, lots of them got constipated from snacking on the walnuts.
